(OOC: I edited my previous RP to fit in with this more recent one.)
Jed found himself gazing at the stars. It was very rare that you would get such a view in the cities of Shadra, where Eddie and Jed both came from. The stars were a beauty he had never truly seen before, and never had the time to admire when he had seen them. Then, in the distance, he heard a crashing sound. Someone or something had smashed something.
"Hey, Eddie, come with me... Might be worth checking this out."
Before Eddie could react, Jed had started running. Eddie followed behind, mainly from a fear of being left alone in a world like this.
"Where are you going?"
The Splicer didn't reply, he simply ran ahead through the woods, with varieties of trees he had never seen before. Before long, they both reached the outskirts of the forest, finding themselves near a huge sea, with gigantic crystal domes held above the water on stilts.
Jed stared at the view before him, as Eddie gazed in wonder then pulled out his notebook. As he started writing the sight that lay before him, Jed simply marvelled at the beauty of the place.
"This is... Interesting..."
Then, out the corner of his eye, Jed noticed two men on a hoverboard. With his heightened senses, he could see that one was a normal man in a labcoat, but the other... The other was quite different. He caught Jed's attention, so he tried to focus more on the man.
"Pointed ears... Silver in the eyes... But black hair? Is it dyed maybe? Is he... Another splicer?"
Before he could head in their direction, the hoverboard reached dry land, and the man in the labcoat climbed off. The one who Jed thought to be a splicer with dyed hair sped away once again.
"Eddie, we're going over there."
Jed pointed towards the man in the labcoat, smilng savagely.
"He's going to tell us some things."

Swiftly Cainn flew back to the Dome and left his hover-board on the plate underneath. Then, using the trapdoor, he went in to find the Abraxians and get them out of there. Heirbert and the others were sitting in the living room, trying to figure out what was going on, without much success.
“Aaaand I’m back!” Cainn called out as soon as he walked in. “Aaaand we’re leaving. Right now. Seriously. Why are you still here?”
“What the hell is goin’ on?” Elia stood up, her hands clenched into fists.
“They saw Tobbie without his suit and I had to get him out. Right now the Upelas are distracted—we blew a hole in the Dome—but soon enough they’ll come here as well.” As he spoke he rested his back against the wall, allowing himself to relax a tiny bit.
“You did what to the Dome?!” Heirbert sprang up.
“Nothing to worry about, just a small crack in the highway. They’ll have it fixed in no time!” the man reassured him and Heirbert breathed out in relief.
“Now let’s... actually, give me a second I need to get out of this itchy thing,” he pointed at the furry leggings. Grabbing his clothes he went into the nearest room and no more than a few seconds later, he was out and ready to go.
Noticing that no one had moved, he waved his hand towards the door. Slowly at first, but quickening their pace as Cainn insisted, they moved out of the house, muttering an awkward goodbye to Heirbert as they did so.
“I’ll be fine,” he waved at them. “Don’t worry about me.”
As they walked away, faster and faster, Sam couldn’t help but be nervous. “Erm... how... exactly are we getting out?”
“I’ve left my hover-board on the plate, just under the trapdoor we used before. There’s enough room for all four of us to fly.”
“You expect us to fly off with ya on that thing? After what happened to Caless?!” Elia stopped walking and eyed Cainn in disbelief.
“Yes.”

[joint RP with TUNDRA!!!!]
Elia could not stop herself from revealing the shock that she was in. Her jaw fell open ever so slightly, before she came to her senses and snapped it shut, with a harsh shake of her head.
"What?!"
“You heard me,” Cainn’s tone was firm. “If the only way off this Dome is the hover-board, we are using that.”
Elia's expression could only be described as deadpan. Jaspar walked forward slightly, trousers now on. "Umm, will it take our weight?" He blushed slightly.
Cainn rolled his eyes and increased his pace, tired of all the questions. “Yes it will. It would take the weight of ten more people. Except they wouldn’t fit on it.”
A few seconds later they were upon the trapdoor and the man carefully pulled it open, gesturing to the others to get in. Once they were one the plate, reassured with the knowledge that the craft could take a lot of weight, Jaspar practically bounded onto the board with excitement. Elia was far more cautious, stepping slightly and staying as close to the middle of the machine as possible.
“Grab hold of the mast!” Exclaimed Cainn as he pushed down the pedal and the small jet engines roared. “It’s not big enough for all of you, so you’ll have to hold on to each other I’m afraid.”
Jaspar winked at Cainn, moving closer to him just to irritate, he grabbed Sam's wrist with his free hand and drew him close however, not wanting to let go of his friend. Elia hung back still, trying to keep her distance from the others, but at the same time trying to get a good grip on the mast... she was struggling, though she tried her hardest to mask this.
The truth was that Cainn had never tried carrying so many people on the hover-board. And while there was no problem concerning their weight, he was not sure at all about their balance. The faster we fly, the less likely anyone is to fall, and in his mind he estimated the speed they would require. “Okay hold on tight! Three, two, one, GO!” A strong push on the pedal and the hover-board shot off the plate and through the air.
"Wait whAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH," Jaspar began before yelling at the sudden acceleration. The cry of surprise quickly turned into a whoop of enthusiasm, sending his cheering voice echoing throughout the sky.
“CRAP! MY HAT!” Cainn yelled in surprise as his trilby was blown off by the wind. He had completely forgotten about that!
At once and without thinking he let go of the wheel and reached for his lost hat, which was falling just below the board. As he did so he lost his balance and ended up hanging with one hand from the very edge of the hover-board. At least he had caught his prized hat just in time. The only problem was that while he was hanging there, the board was tilted to the right and wobbling dangerously.
"Shit." Jaspar muttered. "You alright Cainn?" He called out, clasping Sam's hand tighter to make sure he didn't slip.
“I’m fine,” he muttered back, but it sounded more like, “mgh fne!”
His hand was getting tired and there was no way he would be able to pull himself up with just one arm. Unless... Well there’s no other way out of this... Cainn begun to help himself up using telekinesis, trying to make it look as if he was pulling his body up. He didn’t want to reveal the fact that he could fly, for obvious reasons.
Jaspar stood so Sam was wedged next to the mast, unable to move unless he did. He stood looking at Cainn, wondering whether he should go and help. Surely it was impossible to pull yourself up with one arm after dangling there for that long...
"Dammit." Elia muttered and let go of the mast, balancing carefully. "Ya need a hand, you bastard?" She yelled.
It took Cainn by surprise. So much that he lost his concentration and stopped boosting himself up, going back to dangling with one hand. Had Elia just offered to help?
“Excuse me?” he shouted back in disbelief, enjoying every single second of it. At last he was getting the attention he so cherished. Meanwhile the hover-board had stopped moving forwards, but it was still very unstable.
"Look, ya want help or not?" She practically growled, not liking the tone in his voice. "You know how to fly this thing don't you? Then you better not bloody fall to your death with us still on it!!!"
Of course what she said was perfectly reasonable. Yet Cainn was enjoying how uncomfortable the situation was making her feel. Sure he could push himself up with the help of his powers... but what fun would that be? “Yeah sure,” he grinned, knowing that no one could see his face. “Hurry will ya?!”
"Tch." She muttered. "Don't sound so laid back you bastard." She spat over the edge, hoping that it hit him. Edging forward ever so slightly, she crept towards Cainn, staying low to keep her balance as best as possible. She didn't really want to go tumbling off the edge. Ignoring the muttering chant of Jaspar's "Jump, jump, jump, jump," she knelt down at grabbed at Cainn's hand.
“Me? Laid back? Never!” laughed Cainn as he grabbed hold of her arm. Temporarily, in order to free his second hand, he placed his hat back on his head where it belonged. “And by the way, you missed me.” He added, referring to the spit.
"Bastard." She muttered, her years of intense physical training paying off, as she hauled the much bigger man onto the deck of the board; grunting with effort.
“Not bad!” the man raised an eyebrow as he got back to his feet, grabbing hold of the wheel. “Of course I could have done it without you. But this was much quicker. Not bad at all...” In truth it hadn’t been quicker at all. Definitely more amusing though.
Elia sat back, rubbing her arms, scowl well and truly embedded in her face. "Fat bastard. And what's with the 'not bad at all'?" She scoffed, baring her teeth. "You talk as if you're surprised."
"Fat?! Look at yourself in the mirror!” Snorted the man while flying the hover-board towards the land. “And me, surprised? Nah, don’t flatter yourself too much.”
A sharp growl emanated from Elia as Jaspar whooped with laughter. "I ain't fat. An' I dunno what the hell you're thinking anyway, risking your life for some dumbass hat!!!"
"It's not just ‘some dumbass hat’, not that you'd understand... And there was no risk, I knew I could make it."
"Make it?! You nearly plummeted to your death!!! And it's a hat. It's not special. It's just a piece of fabric and ribbon." "Don't forget the feather..." Jaspar quipped.
"Piss off Cartov," Cainn snapped and with a violant pull on the wheel he caused their ride to suddenly shoot to the right, almost throwing the Abraxians off. With a harsh grin on his face he straightened the wheel again and fixed his eyes on the piece of land they were going to land on, as if nothing had happened.
Elia said nothing, but after regaining her balance, set her gaze firmly on Cainn. Emerald eyes glistening with anger and venom; brighter than the stars in the sky. Jaspar looked down at Sam and pulled a face. The smaller man looked up and bit his lip. Tensions were definitely rising.
So intense was Elia’s glare that Cainn could almost feel her eyes burn his skin. Not wanting to meet her gaze he kept his fixed on the horizon. When they reached the ground Cainn didn’t exactly land the hover-board as softly as possible. Fortunately for Jaspar and Sam, they had been holding on tight, so they didn’t get thrown off. Elia on the other hand was sent flying off the hover-board and landed face-first into the snow. Cainn couldn't help but let a laugh escape his lips.
Elia coughed and spluttered as she hauled herself up. She surpressed the childish blush that was welling up inside of her, and merely swore loudly as Jaspar cackled with laughter; throwing his head back and pointing maliciously. If it had been anybody else, Sam would have asked if she were okay, but he just stood there silently, with a solemn look upon his face. "SHUT UP!" Elia yelled. "JUST SHUP UP!" She threw a fistfull of snow at Jaspar, which caught him full on the face. The laughter was quickly replaced by choking. This did not seem to satisfy Elia as she quickly reached for her guns.
“Hey!” Cainn grabbed her arm before the woman could pull her weapons out. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Elia flinched visibly at Cainn's touch. "Get offa me. It's your fault anyway." She hissed between her clenched teeth, snatching her arms away from his firm grasp and pushed him away violently.
“You’re just bitter because you’re the only one who fell off babe!” Cainn took a step backwards, though he couldn’t wipe the grin off his face. Jaspar seemed both amused and anxious.
The grin that Cainn was so mockingly displaying made Elia's blood boil. "Don't call me babe." Her face was deathly serious. Jaspar picked up Sam by his shoulders, much to his surprise, and plonked him down out of "range".
“What are you gonna do? Shoot me? Go ahead then!” The grin grew wider as the man walked closer to Elia, closer to the tip of the gun that was now pointed straight at him. As he spoke he began to concentrate, focusing all his power on the bullet, which could be fired at him any moment. That way he would be able to stop it in mid-air, using nothing but telekinesis. He had worked very hard to master that power and it was at times like this Cainn felt most rewarded.
Elia was shaking with anger. Why did this man rattle her so much? She'd kept calm in the midst of some terrifying encounters with dangerous marks... but for some reason, one look into Cainn's black eyes made her immediately go on edge. She raised the gun so it sat on his forehead between his eyes.
"Go on pull the trigger. The voice whispered from her memories. Deep. Harsh. Accusing. You won't do it. You're just a little girl who got angry. Ha. Why else are you here? You want to prove a point don't you? But all you're proving is that you're still the same obnoxious brat you were that day. The same trembling child that shakes when she sees an Orc charging towards her. You think you have what it takes to be part of the Nemamiah society? Pha. Stop deluding yourself child. You're nothing like your father. You're just a pathetic excuse for a bounty hunter that will never get anywhere. Your promotion? Vice Captain? You've got me to thank for that. Perhaps we can make our last get together a scheduled thing, now that we're sharing more time. Haha... hahahaha.
"No!" Elia's eyes snapped open and dropped the gun onto the snow.
Cainn had not really expected the woman to pull the trigger. However, he had also not anticipated such a strong reaction. What had gotten into her? She looked as if she had just seen a ghost! Several times he opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn’t find the right words, the proper questions that would get him the answers he wanted. So they remained in an unnerving, awkward silence.
The silence was eventually broken by a long low whistle emanating from Jaspar. He received a soft elbow to the ribs from Sam as a deterrent. "Well... not that this isn't fun...." He finally let his friend go and began hopping around in the snow. "But... what are we going to do now then eh?"
Cainn watched as Elia picked her weapon off the snow and wiped it on her shirt. Then he turned to Jaspar.
“We’re going to find Tobbie and get the hell out of this place. He must be around here somewhere, where left him.”
"Do... do we have to?" Jaspar whined. "I don't like snow. I wanna go indoors."
Though Cainn was shirtless, as he was the only one still in his Upela suit, the cold didn’t bother him. “Don’t be such a pansy. Besides, there are no buildings around here.”
"So... me and Sam are currently stuck in a cold barren wilderness on some weird ass planet in some weird ass universe with a shirtless dude and my Bounty Hunter."
"Pretty much."
"Great."
“Now where’s Tobbie...?” Mumbled Cainn, scanning the area for the man.
“I’m here...” Tobias’ voice echoed from behind. But he was not alone.

While Cainn was away, Tobias was simply sat by the side of the vast lake that surrounded the domes. He mostly thought about how much it had cost to get there... The loss of their worlds, they may never get home again... And Caless, poor Caless, who died carrying people over using Tobias' jet shoes.
"Will things ever go back to the way they were?"
He had simple said it to himself, but was shocked to hear a reply come from behind him in English.
"No. Not unless you tell us who he was."
Tobias jumped up and spun around, a very awkward looking manouver, due to his lack of practice at moving quickly, yet he managed to stop at his target... Two shadowy figures just within the trees. Tobias' hand jumped to one of his pockets, where he kept another weapon of his. It was just a small gun, but it could blast a hole in someone the size of a human head.
"I wouldn't do that if I was you..."
The same voice from earlier drawled from the trees, a strange accent, but still in English. At least there ws a hint of familiarity with the common language, unlike the Abraxians from earlier. Still, this was very troubling.
"Why not?"
One of the shadowy figures, the largest, moved fast. Faster than Tobias could follow with his eyes. Faster than any human should be able to move. Then a voice came, whispered into his ear as a hand grasped onto his arm.
"Because you'll regret it if you do."
It was then that Tobias heard his salvation. It was Cainn.
"Now where's Tobbie...?"
Before the big man holding him could react, Tobias quickly replied.
"I'm here..."
The big man's hand clamped over his mouth, preventing any further reply as Cainn and the Abraxians drew closer...

[joint RP with HB and Tun xD]
“What the hell...” muttered Cainn as two men came into view. One of them was Tobias, while the other a complete stranger. The worrying fact was that the stranger held his hand over Tobias’ mouth.
“Who are you?” Cainn demanded.
Jaspar immediately stood himself in front of Sam protectively. One look at the man holding Tobias sent shivers up his spine. It had been a very long time since Jaspar's protective instincts had felt so strong.
Tobias was scared as he heard Cainn and the others draw closer. The man holding him had a very tight grip over his mouth, and the other hand made its way into his pocket, pulling out the small gun. It had a black finish, made for stealth during the night, which was requested by the military. Unfortunately, this stealth was unnecessary, as Tobias knew it fired off an incredibly bright and hot laser.
"Who am I? I'm Jed." The man turned around with Tobias, facing him towards the others, pointing the gun directly at Cainn. "But who are you? You're definitely not human... Perhaps a splicer like me? It was unexpected to see one of us in a place like this." Jed's silvery hair shone in the moonlight as he smiled sadistically at Cainn.
"Well Captain Obvious, of course I'm not human, but I'm not a spli- whatcha-call-it either!" As he saw the weapon Cainn went into the state of concentration he had practiced before, when Elia had pointed her gun at him. Just in case.
"Well, maybe you got another name for us here. This is another world, right? I could tell as soon as I stepped foot on this planet. It smelled different." Jed pointed the gun at Jaspar now, noticing his eyes, mainly. "And you ain't human either. Tell me, what you two doing hanging around with these fucking humans?"
Jaspar bore his teeth ever so slightly, not understanding the words that Jed was saying, but clearly understood the tone in which he spoke them. Bravado. He needed to focus on bravado. He puffed himself up to his full height of six foot five, including hair, and snarled menacingly. He could feel Sam tug uneasily at his jacket, and quietened again very quickly.
"Cainn." Jaspar spoke in an unusually firm manner, not moving his eyes from the Splicer. "Tell our little friend that I don't understand a word he's saying." His body language suddenly softened; as if he had suddenly decided that he didn't want to play Demons and Splicers anymore. "Because he needs to chill the fuck out." He yawned and scratched at his head.
“I wouldn’t bother if I were you,” shrugged Cainn, slowly moving towards Jed. “They don’t speak your language. What exactly are you and where are you from?”
"I just told you, dipshit. I'm a splicer. Part demon, all badass, ass kicking machine, so you watch yourself." Jed kept the gun pointed, and it was then that another man revealed himself, coming forth from the forest. This one was skinny, with a mess of brown hair on his head and the remains of what looked like a uniform belonging to someone who works in a fast food restaurant.
"Jed, please, don't do this..."
Part demon... That caught Cainn's attention. So splicers were demon and human hybrids... But in which world? He would have to wait to find out, as another man had just walked into the scene. Had all hell broken loose? How had they gotten there? How many already?
"Eddie, what the fuck are you doing?"
Eddie stopped and stood by Jed. His arm touched lightly on Jed's and although he tried to bring the gun down lower, it just didn't work. Jed was too strong.
"Jed, you don't have to do things this way. Haven't we seen enough violence?"
"Get the hell out of my way!" Jed moved his gun arm, but only for the purpose of swatting Eddie away. The man flew a few feet to the side before landing just next to the waters edge. "Don't fuck with me Eddie!"
"Okay let's all just take a step back now," Cainn called out, crossing his arms. "Why are you pointing that gun at us anyway? You're not scared now are you?"
He needed the splicer to calm down. Better yet he needed him to trust him enough... Enough for what? whispered a voice. The answer was obvious... Enough for him to join their little "group". The more the merrier.
Jed laughed at Cainn's remark. "Me? Scared? That's funny, really it is. Listen, all I know is I'm here on another world with some faggy fast food worker and now a whole group of you show up. I know you're not human, and I know he isn't either," Jed gestured towards Jaspar. "But I am not scared at all. You couldn't beat me down if you tried."
Jaspar grinned at Jed's acknowledgment of his existence. Cainn had to bite his tongue in order to stop himself from replying with a sarcastic comment. Instead he took a deep breath and spoke, "If you are not scared, then why are you holding that gun up? Is that not an indication of insecurity?"
Meanwhile Tobias had noticed pretty quickly that the splicer holding him only had two arms. One of these was around his throat, and the other was holding a gun. That could make things pretty easy for him. As he reached into his pocket, slowly and carefully, to avoid Jed's detection, he clasped his hand around his flashbang.
Jed simply grinned, all his attention still on Cainn. "Insecurity is not the same as fear, you should know that. Besides, all this is, is to hold an advantage over you all. I'm the one with the gun here, not you. I could shoot you down if you made a move against me. That's all it is. Leverage. As is your little friend here."
The man wasn't going to shoot, Cainn was sure of that now, so he dropped his concentration on the gun. It was then that he noticed Tobias with his hand in his pocket. What was he trying to reach?
Tobias winked at Cainn before slowly removing his hand from his pocket, the flashbang visible in his hand.
Elia's attention suddenly was drawn away from Jed and towards Tobias... and what was in his hand... she looked slyly at Cainn for confirmation.
It was a very slight nod, Jed wouldn't notice, but it was enough to let Tobias know that he had understood his plan. Then as the man's hand moved, Cainn spoke fast in Abraxian, "Close your eyes!"
Elia was prepared and immediately shielded herself. Sam blinked and covered his eyes before Jaspars "Wait, what?" prompted him to use one of his hands to cover his friends eyes also.
Tobias clenched his eyes shut as fast as he could, and still he could see a bright light behind his eyelids as he pressed the button on the flashbang. Eddie was facing in another direction, and he was not blinded, but Jed was not so lucky. His heightened senses only made the pain of the light in his eyes even more intense. As Tobias pressed the button again, Jed could be heard screaming, and when he opened his eyes, Jed had both hands over his face, the palms of his hands pressed hard into his eye sockets. The gun was on the floor, and Tobias picked it up before moving over to Eddie.
"Looks like you had a reason to be afraid after all!" Laughed Cainn at the sight of Jed struggling. "Tobbie, got something to tie him up with?"
Elia yawned and sauntered towards Jed writhing in pain... "Y'all need something strong."
Sam's hands returned to his sides and frowned. "Okay, what just happened?" Jaspar queried.
Tobias walked over to Eddie, who was still laid on the floor. It was plain to see he was not willing company to Jed, and he had been hurt.
"Eddie, are you okay?"
There was no answer, but Tobias could see his chest rising and falling. He was still alive, just unconscious.
"Huh." Elia prodded the unconscious poet with her foot. "So whatchu gonna tie up the psycho with then?"
"Refering to yourself in third person now are we Elia?" Jaspar grinned. Cainn was focused on Jed, in case the man decided to make a move. "You got something Elia?"
"I got some straps on mah holsters I can take off... they ain't that strong though."
Tobias stood up next to Eddie. "If he's still around when we get somewhere for some materials, I can probably make something."
Elia ignored Tobias and walked over to Jed; lifting him up by his top, she drew her gun and brought the butt of the weapon sharply and swiftly down on his head. "That should help."
"Great, now he have to carry him," Cainn rolled his eyes. Then again, there wouldn't have been an easier way to get the man to go with them.
"You honestly think he would have come quietly? Anyway, it's more fun this way... I doubt he'll be unconscious for long anyways..." She sighed heavily and began tying him up. "He looks like a scrawny bastard anyway. If I can haul an half-breed half way 'cross the country fer bounty I can haul this skinny rat to wherever the hell we're going if it means it'll shut YOU up."
"No way, I'm not letting a woman do a man's job!" Mocked Cainn as he reached for Jed, throwing the unconscious man over his shoulders. Elia scowled at Cainn's comment, but said nothing. She preferred to keep her eye on the newcomers anyway, rather than be preoccupied by a potentially dangerous man.
õTobias smiled as Elia smacked Jed around the head with the butt of her gun. It was then that he reached for his med-kit again, this time pulling out a small container of smelling salts, which he held under Eddie's nose. This promptly woke the man up, and as he stood up, he almost lost balance and fell into the water.
Eddie stared at Cainn, and how he was holding Jed over his shoulders so easily. "How... How can you do that?"
Tobias looked confused. "What do you mean by that? He doesn't look particularly heavy, and Cainn's a pretty strong guy."
Eddie simply gave an awkward smile and then explained. "Jed is a splicer. Splicers are renowned for their speed and strength, which comes from a very dense muscle mass. While he might not look like much, Jed could actually weigh about as much as a small car. He's only a light one, though. I've seen bigger splicers than him walking the street, and one of them tripped over something. He cracked the pavement when he landed!"
Cainn's ability to manipulate matter had always come in handy. He used telekinesis frequently, so sometimes he wouldn't even realise he was doing it. This was one of those times. With his "mind over matter" technique he had lifted Jed without feeling exactly how heavy the man was. "Umm... I work out much?"
Tobias smiled politely and turned to Eddie. "If you hadn't been hit by Jed, you would've heard him say that Cainn is not human. Perhaps his species is just extraordinarily strong too."
“That’s right, my species is much stronger than you...” But what was his species? The question burned inside him. "We should get going. The Upelas may find us if we stay here, they'll be searching to area outside the Dome..."
Tobias simply gave a thumbs-up to show his agreement. He was already disassembling the phone he “liberated” earlier from an Upela.

Shaking his head, Cainn sat himself next to the Upela. No one said anything for a few minutes, until Tobias excused himself to go to the toilet. As soon as the man was out of the room, Heirbert turned to Cainn.
“What are you up to?” he whispered accusingly. “And don’t tell me you’re helping them out of the kindness of your heart, because we both know that’s a lie.”
“Ah, you know me,” shrugged the dark-haired man. “I am simply too curious to let this go. I want to know about them, about their worlds, about their powers. About what lead them here. Don’t you understand Heirbert? As far as I know, I’ve been the only creature with the power to travel to different worlds, and suddenly they come along, prancing around Moonlight City, unable to even explain how they got here! Methinks something big is happening, and I want to be the first to discover exactly what it is. I want answers.”
“I understand…” he sounded sceptical. “And once you get those answers you seek?”
“Well... then I may just get hungry!” There was an eerie glint in his eyes.
“Just don’t do anything you will regret Cainn,” frowned the Upela.
“I regret nothing. We’ll be fine, as long as you don’t do anything stupid. You’re the closest thing I have to a friend, I would hate to… lose you, if you know what I mean.”
“Cainn—” he started, but stopped himself as Tobias walked back into the room.

How were they going to get out of there? Cainn needed to get far enough from the group in order to open a Window to another world, without them seeing him.
“Where are you going?” Tobias called out after him. “Just wanna look around, there must be something there to help us...” with a shrug, and before the man could reply, Cainn darted off into the dark.
Which world to choose? Which one would hold more information about parallel universes? Most likely a technologically advanced one... But what about a more mystical, religious land? So many choices, so little time to think things through. He had to choose carefully though, since his portal-creating power would need time to recharge. It wouldn’t be wise to take them to a dangerous world either... Somewhere safe, somewhere where they wouldn’t attract too much attention... Was there such a place? There had to be...
Frustrated, Cainn concentrated deeply and sensed all the different points where Windows could be opened. He reached out and...
“CAINN!” Sam’s voice reached his ears. Clenching his teeth he tried to ignore him, but then the man cried again, “CAINN!” “Whaaaat!?” he growled back as Sam’s figure came into view. “Elia found something. You need to see it. It looks like some kind of... portal.”

[RPd with Tundra! YAY!]
A portal? Could it be? Eyes gone wide and teeth clenched, Cainn followed Sam back to the others, where Elia and Tobias were examining what seemed to be think air. But Cainn knew better, he had been around Windows for hundreds and hundreds of years and there was no mistaking them for anything else. “How’d you find it?” he asked Elia when he was close enough.
"I was just walking around trying to get away from you faggots when I notice this sorta...thing.. I.. I don't know how to describe it." Elia frowned. "It's sorta like, an image, but not, I mean I can still see thing behind it an' all but... it's almost like I can..." She trailed off, reaching out with her hand, long thin fingers tracing the air around the Window. “Are you always this good with words?” Cainn said with a mocking grin on his face. Of course it wasn’t easy to describe what a Window looked like. It wasn’t easy to see and it didn’t take up much space. If you looked at it closely it would seem as if it was consisted of two different images, both merged and faded into each other. One belonged to the world they were in, while the other to the one the Window would lead to.
"Shut up. I'd like to see you do better. What the hell is it anyway?" Elia almost snarled. Sam frowned in thought and walked over to Cainn. "Is this... is this what we came through?"
How Cainn wanted to show Elia exactly how he could “do better”... But that would inevitably raise questions, so he had to once again bite his tongue. “From the looks of it, yes it is. It’s a Window to another world, can you see the image fading through? Also, if you look closely, there is very little snow on the spot under it...” It was all very strange for Cainn. Sure he had opened Windows before, but once he passed through them they automatically closed. What was wrong with this one? Why had it stayed open? And how had it been created in the first place? Because he certainly didn’t remember doing so.
Jaspar poked Jed's unconscious body roughly with his foot, before turning to hug Sam protectively. "I don't like it. It's scary." He muttered. "It doesn't look like Abraxas. Doesn't feel like Abraxas." "It's Abraxia you idiot." Elia growled. "It's A-bra-xas, you newb." Jaspar muttered. He couldn't stand the way the humans went and changed the name of the planet, even though he wasn't particularly patriotic, he didn't like the way they thought they could just take everything.
“Well there’s only one way to find out.” Taking a few steps towards the Window he reached out to feel its aura. It was warm, there was nothing threatening about it, but it felt unfamiliar. He hadn’t visited that world before and suddenly he was incredibly curious to see what lay on the other side. “Come on, what are you waiting for?”
"You're kidding." Elia stared deadpan at Cainn. "You want us to randomly go to another world." She scoffed. "We need to get HOME. Why the hell would we follow YOU to another fucking world?!"
“Because if you don’t, they will find you soon enough,” and he pointed to the sky in the distance, where several hovercrafts were soaring out of the Dome—Upelas searching for them.
"Shit." Jaspar muttered. "WELL. I VOTE WE RUN NOW." He grinned toothily. “Finally something wise from this man...” laughed Cainn.

Tobias grimaced. The prospects didn't look particularly good either way. With a captive juggernaut and his unwilling accomplice, the group would either have to dive into another, unknown world, or face the Upela... Not an enviable choice to make.
"You know what, I think we should go through..." Tobias contnued fiddling with his device as he talked, concentrating on the task at hand as well as everyone else
Jaspar hopped up and down on the spot. "Less talking more running...."
Cainn moved towards the Window, but a moment before crossing he paused. Would everyone follow him through? Turning around he looked at the odd group he had stumbled upon, extended his arm in the most polite, gentleman-y way possible and grinned. “After you.”
"So what, we just walk right into it?" Elia frowned and placed a hand on her hip, swirling her fingers around in the direction of the window as if she expected some kind of warmth to be eminating from it.
“Pretty much,” shrugged Cainn. “There’s nothing to be afraid of...” He then added, knowing that it would strike a chord in Elia.
"Who said I was afraid?!" She scoffed and pushed him aside. "Damn men..." She muttered under her breath. "...Thinking they know everything, I oughta teach 'em all a lesson." She hissed, turning and shooting Cainn one last icy glare before walking directly into the Window.
Satisfied that the woman had gone through, and slightly amused with her reaction, Cainn then looked at the others expectedly. “It’s now or never.”
"Hi ho off we go!" Jaspar hummed jovially and bowed at Sam. "After you, Sammy boy." "Thanks. I think." The blond muttered and walked through after Elia, shortly followed by Jaspar.
Tired of waiting for the other three to go, Cainn shrugged, turned their back to them and disappeared through the Window. Maybe it would be best not to have that Jed guy with them anyway.
Tobias gave one last look back at the world he had arrived at, and stepped through the window, leaving Jed and Eddie behind. Tobias' head came back through the window, looking back at Eddie. "Are you coming?" Eddie simply smiled. “No.” Tobias reached a hand through, shaking Eddie's hand firmly. "Then good luck. We may meet again at some point in the future... Goodbye." At that, Tobias disappeared into the window, leaving Eddie and Jed alone together.
And so for the first but not the last time, the five of them knowingly crossed a Window to another world.
Chapter 2: The Seaside
I was a beach. Nothing more, nothing less. As Cainn looked to his left he could see the white sand going on for a few metres, then suddenly breaking off to be replaced by a wild, dark green grass. Beyond the grass there were trees, possibly a forest. What secrets could that place hold? He would certainly have to explore it at some point. When he turned his head to the right, all his eyes could gaze upon was the sea. Yet this was nothing like the dark, murky ocean that extended beneath the domes of Moonlight City, it was a wonderful light blue sea, with small, white waves dancing here and there, continuously playing with the sand on the beach wherever land and water met. There was no sign of life and absolutely no buildings or other humanoid creations to be seen.
Tobias looked around, the sand crunching underneath his feet as he moved, the rolling surf breaking on the shore, and took in all the natural splendour... Yet one question still plagued his mind. "What is all this stuff? Why is there a huge body of water next to these fine grains of rock? I notice the trees, but this is nothing like before. The previous world had a similar body of water... What is it called?"
“Man what a sad place you must come from,” muttered Cainn, not bothering to answer.
"It's....the ocean." Elia muttered under her breath, not realising that she'd answered Tobias' question, albeit in another language, and not one he could understand. She almost let a smile touch her lips as she walked over to the waters edge. The air was much warmer than in Moonlight City, and the suns rays tickled at her bare skin. "It's, it's warm" Jaspar squealed and jumped up and down in the air, proceeding to dance up and down the shoreline, kicking up massive plumes of sand in his wake. "IT'S WARM!!!!!" He yelled, throwing up his arms in the air in ecstasy.
"Jaspar, be careful!" Sam called out after his friend, who was a good distance away from them already, calling and yelling happily. "We don't know anything about this world! It could be dangerous!"
"Oh stop being such a pansy, it's sand and water what's it gonna do?" Elia snapped and removed her boots, slipping her feet in the pleasantly warm water. "OH GOD MY EYES!" "Okay I retract what I said."
Tobias moved closer to the water, peering into it curiously. On Krillia things were very different. Water was kept in reservoirs the size of cities, and it was never seen in places like this. Tobias began reching towards the water, then suddenly snatched his hand back. Memories of Caless' cruel fate sprung to mind, keeping him from touching the treacherous liquid. Instead, he pulled out a small metal rod, and inserted it into the water, keeping a safe distance himself. He clenched his eyes shut as he did so.
The water, much to his surprise, didn't pull him into the depths, and instead simply did nothing, When he opened his eyes he removed the rod, inserting it into a small airtight pocket. He pulled out a small machine the size of a pen, and inserted it into a small hole in the rod through the plastic pocket. After a moment or so, he looked at it, bewildered. "Dihydrogen monoxide... High in sodium... It's salty water?" Tobias moved closer to Cainn, showing him the results of the test. "Cainn, can you explain all of this for me please?"
“It’s the sea, or the ocean, or just water. Salty water as you said. At least it usually is... I’m not sure about this world and I don’t trust that gizmo of yours.” At that Cainn took a few steps closer to the water and with a swift move put the tips of his fingers in the warm water, then he brought the fingers to his mouth and tasted the liquid. “Yup, it’s salty water I’ll give you that.”
"Y'all thought it were something else?" Elia smirked, picking up on Cainn's half of the conversation, beginning to walk off in the direction opposite to the rest of them. "Y'all nutters you know that right?" "Nutters? Maybe. But this IS a different world, so you never know. Simple logic babe," Cainn winked at Elia and watched her fume. "Fuck off." She snapped.
Tobias was somehow even more confused by what Cainn had revealed.
"But why would it be salty? A concentration of salt this high would induce vomiting in most humanoid creatures... Why would they ruin such a good water source?"
"OH GOD IT TASTES VILE! I THINK I'M GONNA BE SICK!" Jaspar's voice rang out in the background.
“For a smart guy you’re not so smart,” laughed Cainn. “No one put the salt in it deliberately. This is simply the way it is. No one drinks this water. It’s like trees, it was not created to be useful to humanoids, it is a part of nature, and most times there are sea creatures living in it.”
Tobias mused for a moment, before turning back to Cainn. Despite Jaspar shouting loudly in a language he didn't understand, Tobias managed to consider his next question before he asked it.
"So... Where is everyone? Do you know this world too, Cainn?"
“How would I know this world?” Cainn spoke a little too quickly. He took in a deep breath and continued in his usual pace. “It’s my first time here, just like you. My best guess is that either we have appeared in a place where there is no other life form, or the creatures that inhabit this world are hiding somewhere beyond that forest,” he pointed at the trees.
"That's...reassuring." Sam spoke in hushed tones, not really wanting to intrude on their conversation but feeling anxious nonetheless. He looked around, noticing Jaspar was now wading out into the water, skipping happily amongst the waves. "Wait." He suddenly tensed. "Where's Elia gone?"
Cainn shrugged—she couldn’t have gone too far. Discreetly turning around and concentrating, he tried to sense the woman’s presence. Surely enough, it was there, though he was not concentrating enough to locate her exact position. It did not matter to him. Yet the others seemed anxious. Not because they cared about the woman, but possibly because they were afraid of the unknown world—what had it done to Elia? Was there a chance it would get them as well?
“Look,” he spoke after a little bit, when Sam repeated his question. “She can’t be far off, and she would not go into the forest just like that. I say we split up and look for her, if you’re that worried.” "I'm not worried, I just don't trust her, is all." "Then go look for her." Sam shuffled uncomfortably. "Do I have to?"
Tobias only picked up on Cainn's side of the conversation... "What? the woman is missing? What was her name again? Ellie? Either way, I'll help look for her." Tobias grinned, hoping to prove himself useful to the group, and make up for his previous mistakes.
“It’s Elia actually,” Cainn had no clue why he had even bothered to correct the man. “As I said, we should split.”
Sam looked uncomfortable with the idea of splitting up, but said nothing more on the matter—after all he had been the one to bring it up in the first place.
"Okay. I'll find her." Tobias headed off, with his own agenda in mind as well as to find Elia. He wanted to find somewhere quiet where he could add the finishing touches to the translator he had been making as he walked. All he really needed was something to attach it to the ear...
Cainn began to walk as well, throwing a few backward glances to make sure no one was following, or looking at him. When he was far enough and out of everyone else’s sight, he changed direction and jumped straight into the forest.
Sam on the other hand, went over to supervise Jaspar, as he didn't trust him not to panic if he slipped and fell.
Meanwhile, Elia was happily washing herself in a nearby cove, pleased to have some privacy and to be able to clean herself'; even in salty water, at least it was clean. She'd been tracking Jaspar for weeks and even though she'd had access to clean water, she felt decidedly dirty and missed the hot showers of the society. The fact she hadn't slept for days didn't help the matter either; she felt her eyes close as she removed the majority of her clothes, only leaving on her sports bra and the black shorts that she sported beneath her trousers.
Tobias looked down at the rocks and saw a large pool of water next to them. Still distrustful of the water despite Cainn's earlier clarification, he walked on, looking for somewhere else suitable. Before long, his eyes settled on a small cove, tucked neatly out of the way. "That would be perfect."

The trees were not too tall and the foliage not too thick, so it was a rather pleasant walk through the forest. It was, however, lacking in excitement. All Cainn could see was a bit of grass here and there, rocks, and of course trees. There were a couple of insects buzzing around, which was a pleasant change from the lifeless Moonlight City, but other than that there was nothing to be seen. Pushing against the ground he lifted himself in the air and flew up to the top of the trees, barely sticking his head out through the leaves to see what lay beyond the forest. Admittedly, there was not much to be seen. Just green and blue. The trees covered almost all of the land that lay before him, with the exception of a few clearings, and then the ocean came. They were on an island, a quite small one too. Nothing lay on the horizon, or at least nothing Cainn’s eyes could distinguish. With a sceptical look on his face, the man levitated back to the ground, where he found himself a comfortable enough rock to sit on. Raising his left hand to the level on his eyes, he looked at the single ring he was wearing—a flat silver one with an oval stone on it as black as his eyes. Though there was nothing in the way the accessory looked to give it away, that was no ordinary ring. Cainn had it on him since he could remember and it had proven exceptionally useful. He placed his index finger on the black stone and in his mind he willed the ring to be activated. Immediately the stone began to glow and over it appeared a translucent, mini hologram of a leather coat, lined with red fabric on the inside—it was identical to the one Cainn was wearing. “Nope,” he mumbled, “I don’t need you right now.” And he flickered his finger as if he was flipping through the pages of a book. At once the image of the coat disappeared, a small hologram of an old notebook taking its place. Still it was not what Cainn was looking for, so with a few more flicks of his finger he went through the contents of the ring. No longer than a few seconds later he found the image of a relatively new notebook and, using two fingers, he pinched the hologram away from the ring. As it was pulled away the image became both clearer and larger, until Cainn was holding the notebook in his hands. No longer needing the ring, he willed it to deactivate, returning it to its normal state. The notebook was bound with a thin layer of brown leather and had a pencil tied to its side. Cainn flickered through the pages—they used to be white, but with time they had acquired a creamier, warn-out hue. For him “relatively new” meant less than a hundred years old.

Picking up the pencil he began to write in his very much practiced and nearly perfected calligraphic handwriting.
The most curious thing took place in Moonlight City today. It all began with the weather. No hurricanes, no thunderstorms, no nothing. The sky was as clear as ever and there wasn’t as much as a breeze blowing. Then the people came. Not Upelas, as one would expect, but rather humanoids from different universes. None of them had a clue about how they had ended up there; they must have accidentally fallen through from open Windows. But how were such portals opened in the first place? I certainly had nothing to do with it. The Windows I create close by themselves after a short period of time. Perhaps those people know more than they let on. I shall have to observe them, try to gain their trust, in order to shed some light to this mystery. Currently we are in a quiet world, though I cannot know for sure what the whole planet is like, due to the fact that we are stuck on an island. There is no sign of land in the horizon, so flying out to search for any would require the kind of time I cannot risk to waste; there is also the unfortunate possibility of me being unable to find my way back to the island. I best stick here for a while, ask a few questions and see how it goes.
Cainn wanted to write more, but there would be time for that later. He needed to go back and see what everyone else was up to, and if they had found Elia. With a swift move he closed the notebook and stored it back inside the ring, using a similar method to the one he’d used to get it out. Then he got up and began to walk back from where he had come from. The man hadn’t gotten ten steps away when he felt something brush against his leg. He froze. What had that been? His eyes darting to the ground he was just able to see a long tail disappear into a bush. “Interesting…” he mumbled, before crouching down and beginning his search for the creature.

[Need to Edit more]
After a while of searching for the mysterious creature the tail belonged to, Cainn gave up and decided to head back to the beach. A part of him was beginning to doubt the fact that he had seen anything at all in the first place.
Tobbie drew ever closer to the small cove, hands in pockets, still keeping an eye on the water. The sand felt strange beneath his feet, but he had long since realised it was safe to walk on. Before long, he was at the entrance of the cove.
Elia was washing, not paying attention to anything else, muttering under her breath angrily.
Tobias entered the cove, looking around as he went inside. He thought to himself as he looked, for a small area he could sit, working on the final touches of his translator.
Elia picked up her clothes and began walking back, letting herself dry in the warm air; she felt better already.
Tobias wandered further into the cove, and saw the outline of a person coming steadily closer. To Tobias, the figure looked like a man in the distance, coming closer and closer, and he had nowhere to hide.
“HOLY SHIT! Elia yelled, suddenly seeing Tobias, holding her clothes against her. “WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOIN'?”
Tobias blinked, wondering what the figure had said. He couldn't quite see them, nor could he understand the language, but the voice sounded so familiar... He began to move closer.
Elia rapidly tried to get her trousers on but got caught in a leg, falling backwards with a thump onto the hard rock. “Owwwwwww!”
Tobias stopped, looking at the figure as it fell. He still couldn't quite see the figure, his eyesight seemed to be below par for many Krillians, but he had never had it fixed. All he knew was that the figure had dropped onto their back and shouted. Could this be some kind of warning?
Elia dragged herself to her feet and stormed towards Tobias aggressively, “Can't I get FIVE FUCKIN' MINUTES OF PEACE AROUND HERE?!”
Now Tobias began to see who the figure was... It was Elia! And she seemed very angry... He couldn't understand what she said, but whatever it was, she was clearly not happy.
“Jeeze, you're all a bunch of fuckin' perverts that's what you are,” Elia smacked Tobias with her top before putting it back on, running out the cove back towards the beach.
“What was that all about?” Tobias looked at Elia as she ran out of the cove. He scratched his head before wandering further inside to seek some peace and quiet.
Coming out of the forest, Cainn realised that he was very close to Jaspar and Sam on the beach.
Jaspar was singing, while Sam warned him not to wander too far out. “Pfft fine…” Jaspar came closer to the shoreline. Then his eyes went wide. “Jaspar? ... Jaspar, what is it?”
“I see you're enjoying the sea!” Cainn waved at them from where he was standing.
“I-in... in the forest.” Jaspar pointed towards the trees, eyes wide. “Jaspar, what is it?” Sam repeated.
“F-fuck... f-fucking hell.” Jaspar muttered under his breath before sprinting along the beach well away from where they were.
“Jaspar! JASPAR COME BACK!!!” Sam yelled after him
Cainn got closer to where Sam was standing, staring after Jaspar with a confused look on his face. “What got into him? I'm not that scary!”
“... ” Sam stared off into the distance, Jaspar already having vanished into the forest.
“You know, going in there alone isn't the best of ideas.”
“H-he'll get lost... .” Sam paled visibly.
“Probably,” Cainn shrugged, not looking too worried.
“He can't look after himself, Cainn... w-we've got to go looking for him!!” Sam began to run towards the trees after Jaspar. “JASPAAAAR!!!!!” “JASPAR WHERE ARE YOU!??!” There was nothing but silence.
“THERE'S NOTHING DANGEROUS IN THERE, RELAX,” Cainn shouted after Sam.
“THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOMETHING THAT SPOOKED HIM!... He doesn't get scared easily... ” He muttered under his breath
Cainn jogged to where Sam was. “Smart guy. Sees something that spooks him, and runs TOWARDS it.”
“Oh shut up.” Sam sighed wearily, frowning anxiously
“You seriously want us to go after him? It's just a bunch of trees, he'll be back in no time.”
“But what if he gets LOST?! He can't look after himself in there!”
“It's just a forest,” muttered Cainn.
“... It's just Jaspar...” Sam sighed, scanning the area for any glimpse of his friend’s bright red hair. “What could he have seen?!”
Cainn shrugged again. “Beats me. I was in the forest and I'm telling you, there's nothing remotely spooky in there. It's probably him being childish. I bet he just saw a scaaary tree.”
“Oh shut up, Cainn, you're not helping!!” Sam snapped, getting tired.
“Oh because you are?”
“At least I'm TRYING to find him!!”
“Not having much luck there I see.”
“Cainn! This isn't funny! Instead of making stupid comments, why not help?!”
“Fine fine, I'll help you look for your little baby... ”
Sam glared at Cainn, but said nothing, he was beginning to panic. Jaspar was not good scared, let alone in a completely new environment.
“Cainn!” Elia yelled, “What's goin' on?”
“Well if it isn't sour-face. Blondie over here has gone and lost his honey.”
Elia scoffed at Cainn before turning to Sam “Jaspar's gone?” Sam said nothing, knowing Elia would be loving this.
Elia started to laugh, “This is fuckin' priceless! Little Sammy, all alone while the big bad demon has run away? What happened, eh? Finally get tired of you?”
Tobias, meanwhile, had found somewhere to sit in the cove as he worked on the translator.
“Shut up Elia!” Sam snapped, looking hurt, trying his best not to show it. “That's not helping.”
“I'm not trying to help.” She smirked, hands on her hips, winking at Cainn. “So what happened?”
“He just... suddenly looked really scared and ran off.” Sam muttered.
“He saw a scary leaf,” smirked Cainn.
“Shut UP Cainn!”
“Bah, make me!”
Elia smirked, “It wouldn't surprise me, that bastard has the mentality of a three year old.”
“More like two... ” sniggered Cainn.
Sam did a momentary double take. “Shut up Elia, you know nothing about us, and Cainn you don't know any better!”
“I've been trackin’ you fer five years, you think I haven't picked up on his mental retardation?”
“He's not retarded!”
“Yeah, just intellectually challenged,” winked Cainn.
Elia laughed when Sam said nothing about this. “He's finally gone an' abandoned you Sam. All alone, eh?”
“Shut up… SHUT UP!”
Cainn opened his mouth to speak, but decided against it. Acting the way he was would definitely not gain their trust. But he couldn't help it...
“Maybe he finally got tired of your whinging and nagging and mothering... no wonder he acts like a child,” said Elia.
“It's not like that!”
“Then what's it like?” Cainn couldn’t help but speak.
Elia smirked cruelly at this comment, eyes glinting something fierce.
“It's none of your business!!!” Sam yelled, getting a bit red in the face, obviously incredibly worried for Jaspar and not appreciating the attack. “Either shut up and piss off or help me find him!”
“I told you I'd help, you're the one babbling on and then claiming that you're soooo worried.”
Sam turned around, eyes narrowed. “What do you mean 'claiming'?”
“Ooh my...” Elia grinned. “Getting a bit riled, Sammy? Getting a bit defensive? Got something to hide?”
“Well... you're not exactly looking at the moment, are you? Seems as if you're more bothered with answering back to what man-bitch over here has to say!”
Elia ignored the comment with a glare, but was more interested in Sam's strong reaction.
“Fine! I'll go then!” He snapped, “I would have hoped though as seeing we were all stuck in this situation together, that you guys would have HELPED, maybe not Elia but at least you!”
“I AM helping!”
“Jaspar's gonna die... Jaspar's gonna die...” Elia spoke in a singsong manner. “An' your the one that's gonna kill him...” She smirked, hopping onto a large rock nearby.
Sam growled under his breath and began fighting his way through the dense forest, ignoring the branches whipping at his face.
“I thought you wanted the pleasure of killing him?” Cainn turned to Elia with a raised eyebrow.
“I delight in his misery” Elia winked.
“Eh... he doesn't look THAT miserable...”
“Yet,” Elia smirked, hopping off the rock and following Sam.
“Piss off, Cartorv.”
“Make me.”
“You're not worth it.”
“And your little boyfriend is?” said Cainn.
“SHUT UP CAINN!”
“As if that will ever happen,” he winked.
“Gettin' angry are we?” smirked Elia.
“ARGH for fucks sake, you're not helping!!”
“We've been through this before,” said Cainn mockingly.
“Perhaps he needs reminding again?” Elia smirked. “So lets recap... Jaspar is lost, probably dying horribly somew-”
“That's ENOUGH ELIA!” Sam whipped around and grabbed her by the collar, pushing her backwards.
Normally, Elia would have retaliated, but seeing the normally placid Sam getting so agitated made her laugh; she loved it, her laughter only infuriating him more; his blood pressure rising.
Cainn flinched, surprised that the seemingly calm Sam was acting in such a way.
“Ngh...” Sam clutched his chest momentarily before trying to thrash his way through the foliage once more.
“What...?” Cainn knitted his eyebrows, not sure if perhaps he had taken it too far.
“N-nothing, either help or piss off.” He frowned, not bothering turning around, trying to control his anger.
Elia looked back at Cainn, a strange glint in her eye, mouth twitching in a twisted smile.
“I think he's suffering from heartbreak,” Cainn muttered to Elia with a slight grin.
“Poor baby... can't live without his precious Jaspar.”
“I thought Jaspar was the baby?”
Sam tried to ignore them, focusing on finding a path.
Cainn followed after Sam, finding it amusing that he could so easily have the last word when talking to him.
“Jaspar IS the baby... isn't he Sam?” Said Elia.
“Shut up” Sam was now whispering.
“Don't cry,” sniggered Cainn.
“Weren't always like that though... was it?” Elia grinned, following the men.
Sam had started to shake slightly, having to stop what he was doing to lean over for a moment to catch his breath. Elia suddenly fell silent.
“Woah, already out of breath?” Laughed Cainn.
Sam grabbed for a nearby tree, trying to support his weight, suddenly aware of the burning pain in his chest, clutching his hand to it.
Elia took a few steps backwards.
“Man you're weak. You should exercise more, no wonder Jaspar's off. Probably felt like he was being held back,” Cainn said in a joking manner, not realised Sam's condition.
Sam made a small choking sound, barely audible, but it was cue enough for Elia to back well away.
“S-shut up...”
“Jeez relax aready, can't a guy make a joke around here? Talk about touchy!”
“Ngh...” Sam stumbled backwards, clawing at his t-shirt, throwing it aside.
“Cainn...” Elia mumbled.
Cainn's eyes widened for a second, before the usual grin appeared on his face. “Okay okay, I get your point, you do exercise, no need to show off your muscles.”
“Cainn...” Elia muttered again, as Sam fell over, trying to remove his trousers, before letting out a scream of pain.
Cainn continued to ignore Elia, but this time he couldn't come up with a sarcastic comment to match the situation. “... Sam?” he spoke in a curious, almost worried tone.
Sam clamped his eyes shut, screaming something fierce, clutching at the tattoo on his chest.
Cainn stood there, not sure if he should go to Sam, or back away as Elia had done. “Are... are you okay... ?”
“Cainn, I'd get well out the way if I were you.” Elia was now quite a way away, having to raise her voice.
“What? Why? Doesn't look like there's anything to be afraid of.”
Sam continued screaming, a horrible cracking sound emanating from his body, the screams slowly turning to low guttural growls.
“What the hell is wrong with him?!”
“Cainn, get back, you idiot!”
Now Cainn was not moving just out of stubbornness, to show Elia that he was not weak like her.
The crunching and cracking sounds became far louder, combined with the screams, drowning out all other sound. Elia realised how hard Sam must be trying to control it, as blood began to drip out of his mouth.
“Cainn, if you know what's good for you, you'll fuckin' run!”
“SAM!” Cainn yelled, part of him wanting to move closer to the man, but another warning him against it. Maybe it was out of instinct, maybe it was because of Elia's warning, but Cainn began to reach for his powers, preparing to use them if anything... unusual were to happen. But what could happen anyway? It was just Sam!
Sam began to change, teeth turning to huge crushing fangs, and hands morphing into massive clawed paws. His usual slight frame suddenly a massive bulk of muscle and fur, growling furiously in a blind rage. His eyes were glazed over as he turned to face Cainn, no longer the peaceful human, but rather a giant bloodthirsty bear.
“What... the... hell... ” Not believing his eyes and taken by surprise, Cainn lost his concentration so much, that he even nearly forgot that he had powers! He simply stood there staring, eyes gone wide, grin completely wiped off his face.
The creature that was Sam roared at Cainn, not seeing him for who he was, clawing the ground, pacing up and down.
Was that really Sam? What had happened to him? Where had the cool, collected, calm and kind human vanished to?
Sam reared up onto his hind legs, growling aggressively before slamming his huge bodyweight against the floor, sending leaves from the trees fluttering to the floor.
Cainn took a few steps backwards, but tripped over his own feel and stumbled to the ground, his eyes fixed on the monstrous bear.
Elia almost went to help Cainn up, but knew that it would do no good if the bear charged. She'd only seen Sam like this once before, but once had been enough.
Tobias, meanwhile, was nearly done with his creation. Just a few small tweaks here and there, and... PERFECT! The translator should work, hopefully. Tobias grinned as he stood up, walking towards the entrance to the cove, and back out into sunlight. Tobbie was pleased with himself, the device was crude, sure, but it should work. He had decided maybe he should test it out very soon, and heard some sort of commotion in the distance. “Well, I wonder what's going on... ”
Not long after that, Tobias appeared among the trees, looking first at Elia, then at Cainn.
“Hey, what's going o-HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT?”
“You IDIOT!” Elia yelled.
Cainn wanted to speak, to reply to Tobias in a smug tone and say that the beast was called a bear. But he had no voice.
Sam's attention jumped from the helpless Cainn to the new face, not recognising him at all, and opened his mouth in a warning roar, showing off his glinting set of teeth.
He paced the ground slightly, “Shit he's gonna charge!” Elia yelled.
Jaspar, sat on a rock in the distance hiding from the small creatures he'd seen, heard the scream and immediately knew what was causing it, eyes growing wide. Ignoring his fear, he began to sprint back. Then came multiple roars and he was now sprinting faster than ever.
Tobias, who had no experience of animals outside of the zoo, looked at the bear curiously. “Is it... Smiling?”
“No. No I'm pretty sure it means he's gonna fuckin' kill us.” Elia rolled her eyes and began to back away, eyes not moving from the pacing bear.
Cainn's eyes snapped to Elia, then to Tobias. “You can understand each other?”
Elia's eyes grew wide, not having realised.
Tobias nodded, pointing to the translator on his waist. “Universal translator.”
“That's great but we have bigger problems.”
At that, Sam reared up once more, before beginning to run towards them all, teeth bared, ready to attack.
Tobias pondered for a moment.
“Do you think we can speak to it?”
Cainn prepared to fly off, not wanting to wait and find out.
“NOOOOOO!!!” A cry called out, before a blur of red burst from the bushes, tackling the bear to the ground.
“Jaspar!” Elia called out in surprise.
“What she said!” Shouted Tobias, also in surprise.
Sam roared, taken by surprise as Jaspar pinned him to the floor, he struggled against his friend’s incredible strength, lunging out at him.
“G-get, get away!” Jaspar yelled at them all, having wrapped his arms around the bear, barely able to talk in concentration, trying to stop his best friend from biting his throat out.
“You heard the man, let's go.” Elia snapped, and began to run.
I'd almost forgotten about how strong demons are... Cainn thought, frozen on the spot.
“C-cainn, run you idiot!” Jaspar repeated, struggling but had successfully pinned Sam down, preventing him from moving, now simply trying to avoid the long, sharp claws that were flailing wildly. “I c-can handle this!”
Cainn didn't need another warning. And though the idea of flying was quite appealing, he decided to run, just as Elia had done.
Tobias didn't run away, instead he stepped forward, translator active and mind ready.
“Do not attack us, Whateveryouare, we are not here to harm you!”
Sam merely roared.
“H-he can't listen, Tobias!”
“You know, I think I understood him.” Tobias felt encouraged by this turn of events.
“D-don't be an idiot!” Jaspar yelled, before crying in pain as the momentary distraction allowed Sam to catch the side of his face with his claws. “RUN!”
“You sure? I might be able to talk to it if we let it up.” Tobias stood near Jaspar, edging slowly closer to the bear, the translator somehow making his voice when he talked to Sam sound like growls.
“Trust me... if I l-let go for a second he'll fucking kill you. I-it's not a matter of understanding it's a matter of the fact... .argh!” He got swiped again, “t-the fact he has no control whatsoever, it's like he's b-blind… j-just give him a few minutes... p-please, p-please just go... ”
Tobias was confused by this. The whole scenario had completely befuddled him, and Jaspar implying familiarity with this creature was... Strange.
“You know this creature?”
“It's Sam, y-you idiot!!!” Jaspar screamed, becoming exasperated by Tobia's reluctance to run. “Now fuck off!!”
Jaspar breathed a sigh of relief as he was able to concentrate fully on wrestling the struggling bear, ignoring the pain coming from the gashes on his face.
As Cainn ran he caught up with Elia. “What was THAT?!”
“That... that was Sam.” She sighed, happy with the distance they had run.
“No shit.”
“Jaspar can deal with him, now.”
“Can he really?”
“Jaspar's used to it.” She muttered and frowned.
“Jeez what a great friend to have... ” the sarcasm was back.
“It's not a common occurrence... just when he gets real angry.” Elia shrugged, as if it were the most common thing in the world.
“What IS he?”
Elia sighed. “It's hard t' explain. He's human.”
“Oh what, and you turn into a cougar?”
“N-no that was his brother.”
“Are you serious?!”
She frowned and tried to think of a way she could articulate it. “His family, a from a race of warriors... originally brought to the planet to protect it from the demons... they can all turn into animals. It ain't magic, just some complicated science shit to do with genomes or... gerbils or... something... Anyway, that tattoo in his chest is what keeps it all under conscious control but... it got… damaged and now he can't control it at all.” “What a fucking zoo...”
Tobias soon arrived where Elia and Cainn were. He gave them both a look that showed he wasn't particularly happy, and kicked sand up, with his hands in his pockets as he wandered around.
Elia frowned at Tobias. “What the hell is wrong with you? I woulda thought you'd have been gouged or... mauled or something by now.”
“Why, you actually care?” Cainn raised an eyebrow.
“Care about what?” Elia turned and snapped at Cainn.
“Anything,” he smirked.
Tobias sighed, more of a huffy sound than anything else.
“I thought it was some different species I hadn't seen before. It was just Sam... Why didn't you tell me?”
Ignoring Cainn, she turned again and snapped at Tobias, “What makes you think I have to tell you anything?”
Tobias snapped back. “It would've been nice to know that huge fucking thing was Sam! I don't know if you noticed, but I was a little late to the party.”
“I told you to run didn't I?!”
Elia was about to swear violently before being cut off by another long, piercing scream. “... It's done.” She sighed.
“I did the scientific thing to do... I tried to establish contact. I thought he was some new species.” Tobias kicked sand again.
“That approach is really not going to keep you alive for long,” noted Cainn.
Elia frowned at Tobias in disbelief. “It was a fuckin' bear.”
“A bear? So that's what they're called... On another note, I found my translator works on bears too.” Tobias seemed slightly happier, but he was still annoyed.
“How does that thing work anyway?” Cainn's curiosity popped up.
Jaspar staggered out of the forest, Sam unconscious in his arms, trousers put back on, shirt draped loosely over him, looking worse for wear.
“You probably wouldn't understand... ” Said Tobias. “It's very complicated. Most people I talk to end up getting confused when I explain things.”
“Try me... ” grinned Cainn, but soon his face turned serious, as his eyes fell on the demon and the human.
“W-we're back...” Jaspar breathed raggedly, grinning toothily, seemingly unaware of the gashes on his face. “S-sorry about that!”
“Yeah... ” mumbled Cainn. “Just don't let it happen again... ”
“Not interrupting a-anything, am I?”
“No, not really... ”
Tobias reacted like a petulant child. “Hmph.” He kicked up a bit more sand and just sat on the ground, staring at the water, not letting it out of his sight.
“W-what's wrong with you?” Jaspar pouted at Tobias, shifting Sam's weight so he had a better hold on him, causing him to stir slightly, moaning in pain.
“I looked like a tit because nobody told me that was Sam. I thought I was talking to some new species. NOBODY TOLD ME!” At that, Tobbie glared at Elia and Cainn before crossing his arms like a little child throwing a hissy fit.
“Oh, GET over it already!” Cainn rolled his eyes.
“If I didn't have Sam in my arms I'd give you a fuckin' slap you whiny little bitch.” Jaspar muttered. “Jeeze... ”
Cainn couldn't help but smile with Jaspar's attitude.
“On the plus side, we can all understand each other now.” Tobias pointed at the translator, grinning.
“I think I preferred it when I couldn't understand you to be honest.” Jaspar sniffed.
“What can I say?! I didn't even have a choice!” Cainn faked a whiny voice.
“You guys are dicks!” Tobias stood up and began stomping off across the beach, away from the others.
“Look who's talking...” muttered Cainn, his eyes fixed on the unconscious Sam.
“Boom baby.” Jaspar yawned, wincing slightly as the movement tugged at the wounds.
“Are those going to heal alright?” Cainn surprised himself with asking Jaspar.
“Yeeeeah, they're only shallow.” He wiped off some of the blood on his shoulder, showing Cainn that they were already beginning to scab over. “Special, me,” he winked.
Sam stirred again, eyes flickering open lightly, face pale as he realised what had happened...
“Sammy!!” Jaspar squealed happily. “That was quick.” He grinned, eyes bright with glee.
“J-jaspar?” Sam croaked, voice wobbling.
“Yeah, Sam?”
“D-did I do that?”
“Y-yeah, but it was my fault, don't worry.”
Tobias slowly wandered back towards the group.
“I'm sorry I called you all dicks.”
“And I'm sorry you are a dick,” Cainn snorted.
“I-I... I can understand you,” Sam suddenly blinked at Tobias. “H-how?”
“I made a Translator!” Tobias grinned, pulling it out from a pocket and showing it to Sam. “I talked to you while you were a bear. Also Cainn, fuck you.”
“No thanks, I got taste,” muttered Cainn, feeling sour that he was no longer the only one with the privilege to understand everyone. Of course the translator was essential, but there was still a part of him that stubbornly refused to accept that.
Sam blushed furiously at Tobias' casual reference to his “accident”, causing Jaspar to giggle childishly.
“So, what do you all think?” Tobias passed the Translator round, grinning the whole time, already forgetting his brief outburst against everyone.
“Eh... it's alright. Suppose it'll do,” shrugged Cainn.
“Dull,” Elia yawned, casting a sly gaze at Cainn, curious to the odd expression on his face.
“I-it's really cool.” Sam smiled before grimacing.
Tobias' smile somehow grew even wider at Sam's comment, and he hugged him tightly, partially gripping around Jaspar. Sam coughed, but grinned weakly, too tired to return the affection. Jaspar frowned as Tobias hugged Sam, and moved back slightly to break the contact. “You shouldn't talk for a while, Sam.” Jaspar pouted and squeezed him tighter, protectively.
“He's got a point,” Cainn tried his best to be extra nice to Sam, after what had just happened. “Also... you should eat something, or drink some water at least...”
“I'm fine… I just need to rest for a little while.” Sam smiled, thankfully, voice still incredibly quiet and shaky.
“Well you should have told us about it. You just can't go around keeping secrets like that,” said Cainn in a firm voice.
