Shiraz let out a laugh, then as she saw that the man before her was not in fact joking, she swallowed hard. "You're my what?" Liam went to answer, but she spoke before he could. "Are you serious? I don't even know you sir and you come here, claiming that we're married? And you expect me to believe you?"
"Yes in fact I do expect you to believe me. Because I speak the truth. I know there's a part deep inside you that remembers me," Liam spoke in a confident tone.
"Even if what you say is true... I don't remember any of it. So what difference does it make?" Shiraz shook her head bitterly.
"It makes a difference. It makes a damn difference, because we are running out of time. We need to act soon, or the Light Side will realize what we're up to and it will be too late."
"I want to help, I really do, but I don't know how! I want to remember but I can't!"
Liam's look hardened. It would be harder than he had thought. He couldn't take it anymore though, seeing the woman he loves standing there clueless as to whom he was. As to who she was.
Before Shiraz had time to react, he pulled out a sharp knife from his belt and raised his arm holding it in the air. The young woman let out a scream, but was frozen in her place, too scared and shocked to move. As she waited for the blow, it didn't come. Instead of stabbing her, Liam brought the knife down on his own body. Blood sprung out of the wound and, even though he was in a great deal of pain, Liam pushed the blade even deeper and fell to his knees.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Yelled Shiraz in panic and kneeled down next to him. This is my fault, she thought. I didn't remember him and he decided to kill himself.
"C-calm... your... yourself... SD..." the man managed to mumbled as he coughed up some blood. "H-heal... me..."
"But... but I can't heal such a wound!" Cried Shiraz confused. Why did he stab himself, and then ask her to heal him.
"You... once... c-could... Y-you... you c-can..." his voice was getting fainter.
Shiraz stuttered a bunch of spells, but none of them worked. Liam was losing too much blood and there was nothing she could do to stop it.
He's... he's going to die...¦ she realised in horror and felt her eyes water.
"I won't die on you, that's a promise!" She could hear Liam laugh. "I won't leave you... No one will take me away from you..." He added in a whisper and she smiled.
It had been a very short memory and the picture in her head was faint, but the emotions were intense. Joy, sadness, fear, love... All in one sentence.
"Don't you die on me," whispered Shiraz as tears ran down her cheeks. "Don't you dare leave me." Suddenly she felt an inexplicable love towards the man - she had no idea where it had come from, but it was there.
"Heal... heal, heal, heal..." she pleaded, and as she did, a vibrant green light encircled the man's wound. When it was gone, the wound had been completely healed.
"I knew you could do it..." breather Liam and slowly tried to get up. Shiraz helped him and they just stared at each other for a moment.
"What... was that?" The woman was the first one to break the silence.
"You're starting to unlock your old powers, Samantha."
She smiled - she felt no need to deny that her name was "Samantha". It felt more right than "Shiraz" did.
"Liam, I heard a scream, is everything..." Another man spoke, though his voice tailed off when he laid his eyes upon Shiraz. Then he turned to leave, cursing under his breath. Liam didn't move, but the woman dashed after him.
"Why are you leaving?" She asked as she caught up with him and pulled him to a stop.
"I'm not supposed to... Just forget it..." he muttered, trying not to meet her gaze.
"You're Choethel, aren't you?" As she said that his features seemed to lighten up.
"You remember me?"
Shiraz shook her head. "Not completely. But I need you. I need you, in order to remember." With that, she touched Cho's shoulder and called out to his soul. The Sprit tried to resist merging with her, he was unsure of the outcome, but as she called out to him again he couldn't help but let his being flow into her. They had been apart for too long, he needed to feel as a whole again - Sprits were not meant to be alone.
As one, she and Cho opened their eyes. And as Liam saw her flash him that all-too-familiar confident smile of hers, he knew that the old Queen SD was back.
