JED
Jed grinned inhumanly as he pulled the burger-flipping piss-ant over the counter. The mess of the food from the order he'd made clung to the worker's uniform, and he dragged the guy outside. According to his name tag his name was Eddie. Jed pulled Eddie up in front of him and barged through the door to the streets outside, where the shit hit the fan with such force that Eddie actually did shit himself.
"ALRIGHT, NOBODY MOVE, I HAVE A HOSTAGE!" Jed roared at the police.
Some of the police were trained snipers, but Jed was covering himself well with the fast food worker, despite the smell. Jed had a knife in his hand, directly at Eddie's throat, just in case any of the police did try anything. He waited for a few moments, and nothing happened.
Jed took off at a run, holding Eddie's feet above the ground so they didn't drag and slow him down. He sped up until he was soon running faster than the cars on the street. For now he had escaped.
Still holding Eddie in one hand, Jed kicked a door open from the street, ran inside, and dropped the confused worker to the ground, and stood in awe at what he could see. Huge glass domes surrounded cities suspended above oceans, held aloft by great stilts.
"What is this place?"
He turned around to close the door, but saw it was no longer there.
"And how the hell do I get out?"

OOC: Haven't RP-ed for a lot of time. Hope it doesn't hurt your eyes too badly.
Elvalia.
"Elvalia? Is that you?"
The old woman shouted out of her window. Elvalia froze in terror when she heard her, and disappeared in the shadows.
"It's ok Elvalia. I'll leave your food next to the kittens'."
The old woman was wrinkled and hunched for years, but not once did she forget to feed her kittens. She cared for her little babies - they were all she had left - and she made sure they were never hungry. They always came when the sun went down. Always, up until a few days ago, when she found Elvalia eating the sour-creamed potatoes on the threshold. The old woman was caught by surprise, but before she could call for her, Elvalia ran away and disappeared.
The next nights, the woman would put a covered dish for Elvalia next to the kittens' ones. She remembered the girl since when she had gotten into the city for the first time with her mother. The girl was very polite and lovely, and look what with her now. Word was she saw some nasty things, but the old woman wasn't hearing much gossip those days.
The old woman was putting Elvalia's dish on the threshold when Elvalia appeared out of the shadows. She looked cautious and kept her distance, but she didn't ran away.
"Come now sweetie, everything is going to be alright..."
The old woman started to falter toward her.
"We'll get you to a warm bed, dear. We'll get you alright..."
Elvalia's face twisted, but she didn't move; Her lips formed words, but no sound came out.
"If you keep whispering sweetie I won't hear you. Momma isn't getting younger..."
The old woman was getting closer to Elvalia. She stretched her hand out to pet her, when Elvalia let out what seemed to be silent shriek and ran away.
"Alright sweetie, your food's waiting..."
The old woman returned to her house and sat on her rocking chair with her kittens around. She looked at the old clock her late husband built. Its smallest hand stopped working long ago, but it still showed the correct time.
Ten minutes later she got up and went outside. Elvalia's dish was clean, so she took it inside, not without muttering to herself something about single girls nowadays.

Just as Cainn had thought, the man now standing a few paces from them was not an Upela. He used a pair of perfectly human legs instead of horse ones, and his hair was much darker than the vibrant white most people in this world had. No horns or long ears were on his head either, so it was safe to say that this “Caless” was a human, or at least something in the lines of that. From what world had he come? Though the first place that sprang to Cainn's mind was Earth, he dismissed it almost at once – the man did not carry the sort of weapons an earthman would have. “I am Evenus Cainnelat, and this is Tobbie,” he spoke with a grin on his face, pointing at Mr. Inventor as he said his name . “Tobias Cane,” he corrected him, slightly annoyed – though only slightly. “Whatever. Hey, Caless was it, you’re not from around here are you?” Cainn decided to get to the point – there was no reason to waste time. Before the man could reply, he continued. “No, I thought so. But how did you get here?”
Cainn was pushing it, he knew, but how could he do otherwise? All those questions drowning him, and the answers hidden away, making it impossible for him to find them. It was as if fate was playing a cruel game with him. If only he believed in such things as fate. Cainn mentally shook his head. Fate. As if such a thing can define me. As if I would let anyone but me shape my own future. Everything I have achieved this far is thanks to myself, not some invisible force that controls everything, be that fate or some “god”. He shuddered at the thought of being constantly watched by an all-powerful god-like creature. He had never been a religious man; in the past thousand years of his life not once had he felt the need to believe in any god. The only thing he believed in was his own personal strength and he intended to keep it that way. After all, how different was he from said gods? He could defy nature’s laws at will, gravity did not bind him, and all the worlds were open to him, he could take one’s life simply by drawing their soul out of their body – Cainn was nobody’s pawn.
“I’m not from around here either,” Tobbie half said, half mumbled, distracting Cainn from his thoughts.

[The RP was done with the help of Tundra near the end!]
“Where exactly is ‘here’?” The man answered with a question of his own. Even though Cainn had barely met Caless, he could tell there was an air of authority about him – he would not trust him as easily as Tobbie had. All the better, more of a challenge for him. “Why, this is Moonlight City of course.” Cainn replied as if he had asked the most obvious things in the worlds. “I thought you could tell, cause of all the moons, you know,” he pointed at the sky without really looking – Caless didn’t bother either. “Oh, yeah, Moonlight City, like that's supposed to be obvious, is it. So who does this heap belong to. You?” Asked the man, trying to find a logical answer for an illogical situation. “To itself. Or to its universe, whichever you prefer,” Cainn shrugged as he slowly approached Caless, though still keeping his distance. “What’s certain, Avril, is that it does not belong to any place you’ve come to know this far. It’s a new world out here,” and it doesn’t belong to you. Cainn thought those last words so loudly, he was sure the man could almost hear them.
“And how the hell did I get here?” That was one Cainn hadn’t heard before. “First Mr. Inventor over here, then you. This kind of stuff doesn’t happen every day, and trust me I’ve seen plenty of days in my life. I may know how you got here and I many not. Point is, what’s in it for me? Information doesn’t come cheap these days y’know,” he said, wanting to test Caless' limits. As he spoke he let my body rest against the trunk of an old tree and crossed his arms. Discreetly, Cainn pushed his hat further down, so that its shadow would hide his abnormal eyes. Caless snorted and rolled his eyes. “Look-” the man started, but before he could say another word, they were both thrown to the ground as if struck by an invisible force. Well it wasn’t exactly invisible. As soon as Cainn blinked a couple of times, he realised that a person was lying on top of him – a woman in fact – who looked just as confused as he did. "Where the bloody hell do you all keep coming from?!" Cainn muttered and cursed under his breath in several languages.
"W-what the hell are you trying to pull?" Elia gasped as she looked down at the man frowning up at her. She tripped over backwards as she tried to scramble to her feet. Jaspar and Sam both seemed to be unconscious on the floor nearby. Jaspar however was sprawled ungainly on top of another man.
"What the hell am I trying to pull? Hey you're the one who landed on top of me lady!" Cainn half said, half shouted, as he shot off the ground and brushed the snow off him. "Where did you come from?" His tone sounded more annoyed than curious. What the hell was going on? The Avril dude and Tobbie just stared at us baffled. That was when Cainn realised that the woman and he hadn’t been speaking English; it was another language new to him.

"Oh, yeah, Moonlight City, like thats supposed to be obvious, is it. So who does this heap belong to. You?"
Caless voice dripped sarcasm at Cainn, eyes narrowed at the sheer arrogance of the other man. Nevertheless, he paid attention as Cainn spoke again.
“To itself. Or to its universe, whichever you prefer,”
Caless just stared at into the other mans face as he talked, more words washing over him, barely even registering in his mind. He did pick up on the fact that it wasnt home, but then, what was home now. A blasted hell hole, infected left to die in the rubble of cities, the few lucky enough to be naturally immune taken by invading forces as slaves or worse. And here he was, trapped in god knows where, with a dandy asshole and a silent scientist as company.
Caless opened his mouth, the question coming almost unbidden. "And how the hell did I get here?"
Glazed eyes tried to focus as Cainn spoke again. Caless strained to understand the man, fighting against the shrill tone rising in his head. From the general gist of Cainns speech, and the fact his body language had turned more defensive, with the whole lowering his hat brim and all, Caless figured he didnt actually know what the hell was going on. Caless spread his arms in a shrug, intending to start over with the guy, maybe get off on a better foot, but didnt get any further than 'look' when he was slammed to the floor.
Caless opened his eyes, and grimaced. The pain in his head was gone, but another man was lying across him, maybe his own age, with shocking red hair. Obviously he was the force that had dropped Caless to the floor. Staring into the other guys face, Caless realised he was unconscious. Gently, he slipped the other man to the side, and knelt over him. Caless' training took over, hands moving in patterns honed by repetition. The guy was breathing fine, wasnt bleeding anywhere, and didnt seem to be in shock. Unless there were any internal injuries, he'd be fine when he woke up, except perhaps for a sore head.
Busy placing the man in a position suited to recovery, Caless glanced over at Cainn as he shouted at someone who'd seemingly fallen on him in an unintelligable language. He figured the guy could speak more than one language, especially since he'd conversed so readily with Caless when he'd turned up, but to hear something so alien spoken so freely, and without a seconds hesitation. It was odd.
With a wry smile, he noted that the person who had fallen on Cainn was a woman, and a relatively attractive one, too. "Just your luck, eh, man. You get saddled with a knocked out dude, he gets a sweetie." With a last look at the guy beside him, Caless sat back to watch the fireworks between Cainn and this new girl.

[As I have promised, here's the RP! Couldn't have done it without Tundra.]
Elia stood up sharply and scowled, "Well what the hell are you doing getting in the way... I-I..." She trailed off and looked around her, eyes wide in sudden realisation; she was no longer in the scummiest part of town.... "W-where...?"
"Where are you? Well I am tired of answering the same question all the time, so why don't you go get your buddy over there so I can talk to you both at the same time. You will find that I dislike repeating myself," Cainn said in a cold voice, pointing at the man that had apparently landed on Caless. Then he noticed that another person was lying on the ground nearby, trying to get up but failing. "Him too," he added without making any attempt to help the man himself.
Elia scowled before turning to Jaspar and Sam. Jasper was rubbing his head and mumbling various demon swearwords that sounded much more pleasant than what she knew they really meant, and Sam was now conscious, but barely so. She felt a twinge of guilt before shaking her head and kicking Jaspar in the ribs. "Get up." Jaspar snarled at her, and squared up to her with a nasty glint in his eyes. "I've had enough of you, lil' miss and wh-" He paused, looking around him with a bewildered look. "Err... sorry, are we interrupting something here?" Jaspar grinned sheepishly before grabbing Elia by the shoulders and shifting her to one side. "Now, what was I saying I-" "You idiot! You haven't even noticed where we are?!"
The glint of hatred in their eyes was as obvious as the brightest moon in the sky. That was sure to complicate things, yet in the most amusing way possible. With a snicker Cainn shook his head and watched the two fight. The man also mumbled a few swear words Cainn would rather not repeat. "Hey you," he called out to them, but they were too busy hating each other to notice. "I said HAY!" And with that Cainn sent a telepathic jolt through their bodies, which was sure to grasp their attention. Certain that he was once again the center of attention, Cainn spoke again, "As you've noticed, you're not exactly 'home' anymore, wherever that is. So cut the crap and try not killing each other for now. Though I have to admit that would be rather amusing, it will not provide us with any answers. First of all, who the hell are you?"
Jaspar frowned and walked up to the strange man. "Nice hat dude." He muttered... sniffing lazily. Elia rolled her eyes. "Elia Cartorv, Captain of the 2nd Division of the Nemamiah Bounty Hunters." She stated in a bored monotone. "The bumbling imbecile to my right is Jaspar West..." "Yo.." Jaspar smirked, raising a hand in gretting. "And the half conscious blonde one on the floor is Sam Smith." Sam moaned incoherantly with his head in his hands, shaking in a cold sweat. "So... who are you then?"
A comment on his hat. How original. Cainn had stopped paying attention to what people thought of his attire long ago - he could rarely be bothered to follow the dress code of each world he visited, so he kept his own eccentric style. The woman introduced herself as if she were reporting for duty. Then the comment on the man next to her - Jaspar West - made Cainn grin. "I am known as Evenus Cainnelat. But you can just call me Cainn, doll," he winked just to annoy her.
Elia tried to stop the wave of annoyance from welling up inside her. Jaspar noticed this and let a snigger escape. The scowl he got in return triggered a fit of giggles instead.... "Will you just SHUT UP?!" She yelled, giving him a sharp shove. Jaspar put his hands to his mouth in mockery before going over to Sam and helping him up. "So, Cainn.." He mumbled as he brushed the dirt off his friends jacket. "Care to tell us where the hell we are? One minute we're outside a nice little bar...next, I get up close and personal with this friend of yours...Geeze Sam you're a mess..." He trailed off, picking the twigs out of his fringe. Sam merely looked groggily up at him; barely able to stand.
"Well Mr... East was it?" Cainn started. "It's West actually..." The red-haired man was quick to correct him. "West, East, North, same difference. So Ginger, you may be surprised to find out that you are no longer in your universe. I don't really care. This place is called Moonlight City. But I am curious about your world - what is it called?" he eyed Jaspar carefully, trying to see if any of his thoughts were readable, but there was nothing to find. Same with the rest of the group - their minds were well protected. Around him stood Elia, Sam and Jaspar, though he could still sense Tobbie and Caless not too far behind - they were mumbling to each other quietly.
"Heeeh, you're a funny one aren't you?" Jaspar chuckled irritatedly. "Except, I think you'll find I'm NOT ginger, it's all red baby." Elia raised her eyebrows. "No longer in our universe? Riiiight, okay then." He turned to Elia and proceeded to shake her hand. "Nice one Cartorv, you've finally done it. Whatever drugs you used... wow, they're a doozy. I'm probably halfway to hell by now but... Jeeze girl why'd you have to take Sam with you?" He sighed and propped his friend up on his shoulder. "You IDIOT! This isn't a dream you ass!" She snapped, and turned to Cainn.. "What do you mean no longer in our universe? How is that even possible? This has gotta be Abraxas right? This planet.. Abraxas, scum of the universe.. home!!" Her accent becoming thicker as she became more and more anxious...
"A dream?" Cainn asked amused. Personally, he had not experienced such a thing, since he'd never slept before, but from what he'd heard people describe he'd been certain that it would be easy to distinguish dreamworld from reality. "Well go ahead and pinch your skin, throw yourself over a cliff for all I care - I can assure you this is no dream! As for you Sweetheart," he fixed his eyes on the lady, "I'm afraid this is not... Abraxas, was it? It is not even a planet that belongs to the world you know. This is entirely a different universe, and you lot might as well accept it. It's not too bad once you get used to the idea you know." He was being blunt with them, he knew, but what better way would there be to get them to follow him? The sudden realisation that they were no longer "home" would leave them in such a confused state that manipulating them would be child's play.
Elia faltered briefly, before setting her face to its usual scowl. Jaspar frowned at Cainn, not out of dislike, merely confusion. "But... it's not possible. This isn't possible..." Elia murmered, more to herself that to anyone in particular. Cainn rolled his eyes and shifted his hat in wait. "I-it's perfectly possible." A weak voice piped up. Sam stood shaking, leant up against Jaspar, eyes finally open; though not completely in focus. The others were slightly taken aback; they had almost forgotten he was there. "T-there was a library, at the last town we were at. I took a part time job there; they wouldn't take Jaspar." Elia sniggered. "Why not?" "He's not the strongest of reade-" "I HARDLY THINK THAT'S RELEVANT" Jaspar interrjected suddenly. Sam smiled softly; face still pale. "Anyway, I was sorting through some of the older ones, and one particularly ancient tome mentioned Universe crossing.. I didn't think much of it, it had most of its pages ripped out. Apparently the author was a heretic; banished by the church for such talk...But, now, we're standing here..." Jaspar rolled his eyes as Sam spoke. "Jeeze, what a load of crap..."
When the still-shaky blond spoke, Cainn froze. The whole situation seemed to vanish for a moment, leaving only his words echoing in his mind. Universe Crossing… Possible… But how? Surely it was possible for Cainn, but what of the other people? They obviously couldn’t traverse worlds! He was the only one with that power. It was his. It was given to him and only HIM. So what exactly is this lot doing here? A small voice asked and Cainn nearly bit his tongue. Bit my tongue… Bite… teeth… Damn! I need to hide my teeth! Quickly he hid the two sharp teeth behind his lips, making them seem as if they were human. He did not use them to hurt other creatures – his methods were far less barbaric – but experience told him that people associated them with monsters. In fact, Cainn had once heard of immortal creatures called “vampires”, which lurked in the shadows and fed on the blood of mortals. How amusingly they reminded him of himself. To get back to the story, the above took place within Cainn's mind in no more than a few seconds. Then he’d pinned his eyes on the blodie, and taken a step towards him as he opened my mouth to speak. “You there,” Cainn pointed at him. “What is your name again?” He demanded to know. “And what exactly did you read?”
Sam coughed as Cainn addressed him. "Smith, Sam Smith. I didn't see much... it was a while ago. I only just remembered it now because there was a pretty illustration of our solar system and the moons reminded me of it." He levered himself off of Jaspar’s shoulder and stood by himself. He was wobbly, but now fully conscious. "As I said, I only saw the introductory paragraph; most of the pages were ripped out." He winced, rubbing his head and turned to Jaspar. "H-hey, did you HIT me or something?" He frowned. Jaspar held his hands up in defense. "I-I... man, look I had to.. I'm sorry I -"
“GETTING OFF the subject,” Cainn raised his voice at once, before things got out of control. “Pages ripped out…” he then muttered under his breath. Who would go looking for such information? He needed to see that book, maybe even try and track its writer down, if he were still alive. His first thought was to ditch the group and go in search for it on his own – it would be much faster – but of course he had to dismiss the idea, as they still held a lot of information he needed. Not to mention they could be hiding things from him – for all he knew they could even be the ones who caused this whole confusion. No, leaving them would not be a clever move; Cainn would have to befriend them instead. “This world you're from, what’s it like?” he asked in an abstract tone.
The three chuckled humourlessly in perfect unison, much to Cainn's surprise. "Abraxas.." Jaspar began, "Is the asshole of our solar system." Sam rolled his eyes. "Do you have to put things quite so crudely?" He mumbled. "Abraxas," Elia interrupted. "Is one of the smaller planets in the Hjertelos solar system. It's surrounded by desolate moons that can't even be seen from the clearest of skies, simply because of the sheet volume of StarDust that surrounds the upper atmostphere." "StarDust? You make it sound romantic or something." Jaspar sniffed. "All this 'StarDust' is, is little pieces of rubble left over from a War long ago... the humans threw it into space to try and clean up some of the cities..." "Anyway," Elia ignored Jaspar and continued."It's home to a lot of...immigrants, wanted criminals, bounty hunters... it's like one giant service station. People travelling from different planets stop off there, but because it's such a scummy place; chances are they'll have the clothes off their backs stolen before they can leave." "It's like a fairytale!" Jaspar mocked.
A world full of immigrants. That meant different creatures from all over the universe - the best way for an outsider to go by unnoticed. "That sounds... most interesting," Cainn discreetly smiled to himself what many would describe as a "creepy smile". They would definitely need to visit that world at some point... he could have taken them there at that very moment, but that would have left him with three people less to work with in the group, as they would most likely choose to stay in their world after they got there. What Cainn needed was to keep them around him long enough to get them to believe that they need him, in order to solve this mystery of the parallel worlds. Plan... he thought in a rush. I need a plan. Plan... Plan, plan plan plaaaane... Got it. Head to the City first, then... hm.. yes, yes, that's good... alright then... That's what I'll do...
"Okay everyone," Cainn called out. “Don’t worry, we’ll figure this out, we will find a way to get you home,” he spoke in a softer voice than usual, trying his best to “comfort” them. “You hear that guys?” He turned to Avril and Tobbie, as he once again spoke the universal language, understood by all. “Oh, so you’re talking to us now?” Caless shot at Cainn as he approached. Waving it off, he continued, “Well I was just telling these people here that I’d help them figure out how to get back home. I might let you come along, if you ask nicely! So who's with me?"
Jaspar suddenly frowned as Cainn turned to talk to the people he'd nearly crushed. "Are those...fangs?" He mumbled to himself. He looked around, nobody else seemed to have noticed... and if they had nobody seemed to care. He ran his tongue over his own ever so slightly pointed canines. "Is he a demon too?" He wondered.. "No, he's not a demon... he's something else.. something else entirely." "Fine, the sooner I get back the better.. And YOU Jaspar, don't try and pull anything funny, got it?" Elia snapped. Jaspar ignored her and frowned at Cainn. "Yo, mate. Not meaning to sound funny or anything but... what makes you so special you reckon you can figure this out any better than the rest of us? You could be worse that sour face over here.." He motioned to Elia who was scowling worse than normal. "What's your world like? Sure, Moonlight City, nice and general but...care to elaborate, Mr. nice guy?" He grinned, head slightly tilted on one side, carefully, so the moonlight just glinted off the tips of his canines at an angle he knew only Cainn would be able to notice.
Fangs… Has he noticed mine? Possibly… I must have let my guard down as I spoke. That made Cainn feel slightly more comfortable around them, not having to hide his features - he had also noticed that the woman did not have any pupils, which meant that his peculiar black eyes with their silver irises would probably not alert them either. “Hey, the lady over here agreed to come along, don’t be a pansy Jassie!” Cainn snickered, much to Elia’s amusment – and Jaspar’s annoyance. “Anyhow, I merely suggested that two minds are better than one, three are better than two and so forth. Besides, I thought it would be useful for you to have someone who knows his way around this place – let alone one who speaks the native language. As for Moonlight City… well why don’t I tell you on our way to the actual Centre?” There, he hadn’t lied, technically. He had never claimed that Moonlight City was his world – they had simple assumed that.

OOC: Good thing About procrastination is that it gives you a great excuse to do other things you're procrastinating about.
Elvalia.
The black figure that was Elvalia was strolling on the roofs of the sleeping city, moving under the silvery night like a shadow of a cat.
She got to the edge of a building, and set on one of the wooden beams coming out of it. Her gaze moved to the other side of the street, attempting to estimate the distance to it.
She bent her legs, and jumped to it. But as she did so, her expression turned to one of terror: She had seen the building transforming in front of her eyes.
She landed on a bush, and got bruised by it. She got up and observed her surroundings, trying to hear anything which might come by. But she saw nothing, and it made her anxious: Even the crickets were silent.
Elvalia started running through the vegetation. She ran and ran, until she hit a stray root and fell down head first. She bended her legs to her chest and started to cry when she saw something moving at the corner of her eye.
She shot up from the ground and hid behind the nearest tree. She peeked around the tree at the creature, and saw the back of a man facing her. She began to rapidly move away from the creature, when all of a sudden, she froze in her place.
The hovering Plasma turned toward her. Tears started to fill her eyes, but she wouldn't move.

Something tore Plasma out of its world of thoughts… Another creature was feeling afraid, terrified even! Plasma attempted to track the source of those feelings it was sensing. Something small… and it was shaking… But the closer it got, the harder it was to tell WHAT that creature was. It wasn’t like him… it wasn’t an animal either… It was a humanoid! Plasma had seen such two-legged beings before, but never from up close. How strange it looked! And… was it growling? What kind of creature was it exactly? Whatever it was, it needed help.
Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you, Plasma tried transferring that message to the other creature’s mind, but it seemed to be too confused to understand. Plasma concentrated further… A picture of light, a sunset and a house… A lit fireplace, coupled with a warm voice… Those were the pictures Plasma tried to project to the other creature, to shake away the fear. How beautiful it looked! Its mind and heard were still in confusion, but there was something harmonious about it’s figure.
Plasma moved towards it slowly. Again, it attempted to reach a connection with its mind. The figure did not budge, but Plasma knew it could feel the sense of safety it was sending. Finally lifting its head up it began to stare at Plasma, and in return Plasma smiled, still floating a few inches above the ground. Then it pointed towards the lights in the horizon and, guessing that it would be their best chance, started hovering towards them.

[Joint RP by Tundra, HB and me!]
"Where did you all come from? You two who just appeared out of the air!" Tobbie exclaimed.
"I'm afraid that's something we'll be explaining on the way as well. So if you're interested, you might as well come along," Cainn shrugged, knowing that the man was too curious to refuse.
"Ugh, well isn't this a picnic?" Jaspar muttered under his breath, supporting Sam on his shoulder
"Yes indeed. All that's missing are the... snacks," Cainn mutter, just loud enough to be heard.
"Wait... Maybe I can figure it out... Whatever made it happen will have a source, right? It has to come from somewhere..." said Tobias.
"Somewhere is a very vague term, especially considering we're dealing with countless of different worlds... This could get tricky you know." As they were speaking, Cainn began to walk towards the City, with a slow pace. The others, porbably wishing to hear the end of the conversation, followed. Caless hesitated at first, but eventually started walking too, without saying a word.
"So... There is a source! Maybe if we can track it back to its source, we could stop it, or just go home, maybe... Although it would be complicated." The man crossed his arms for a moment, thinking.
"Hey slow down, I never said there was a source Tobbie," Cainn raised an eyebrow, trying to figure out if such a thing was indeed possible.
"Well, you said it came from somewhere as a very vague term, but even if it is from the vaguest place imaginable, something can be traced... It will just be very difficult. If I had the parts, I could probably manage it."
"And what if this is simply a random phenomenon? These people here all crossed from their world to this one, no different than you. But what makes you think that it is not simply something caused by the nature of the worlds?" Cainn didn't really believe that such a thing could be true - in his thousand years of life he had never encountered such a thing before. Still they had to think about every possibility.
"Random or not, it can still probably be found with the right technology. If we can view subatomic particles and find where they came from, we can find the source of something that can transport a whole person. At least, in theory..."
"Oh my god what are those idiots babbling about? And if that dude can understand Cainny-boy, then why doesn't he just speak back in the same fricking language?" Jaspar frowned and whinged as they walked. Elia sighed heavily and spat at him. "Just because you're uncultured in other languages doesn't mean they're talking rubbish... and maybe he's just...hmm I dunno" She muttered. "Oh, and I suppose YOU can understand them then, eh? I mean, this one sided conversation must be SO informative, care to share your FOUNTAIN of knowledge with us my DEAR?!" He smirked, mock flinching at her steely gaze. "Guys.. lay off each other.. I'm listening." Sam mumbled softly, voice still weak and shakey, but the colour had now fully returned to his face. "To what? Incoherant babbling? Yeah that's a great idea..." Jaspar poked fun at his friend. "It's interesting. You can pick up speech patterns and stuff of the language from Cainn's side of the conversation..." Sam explained, but Jaspar and Elia raised their eyebrows in unison. "You enjoy that blondie." The woman sniggered, but continued walking in silence.
The source of something that can transport a whole person... Tobbie thought that crossing worlds meant being transported from one to another. What he didn't realise was that he was standing in the exact same place he was before crossing to Moonlight City. The universes are parallel... what changes are the different versions of each world. But how was Cainn to explain that, without causing any suspicion? Noticing that he was staying quiet for longer than he should, he quickly replied: "Right... uh... well good idea... what parts do you need?"
"Well... Considering we need to trace an energy signature, a particle accelerator, a molecular transponder, a few sheets of metal to house it, and a few other bits and pieces... To be honest, I think I have most of the parts with me. Just need to find the transponder." The watches, both Time Machine and bomb, contined parts that would be useful for tracing an energy signature and recreating it. There was just one piece missing, the molecular transponder...
"Parts? This guy needs parts? He a scientist or something?" Jaspar noted Cainn's comment. "Maybe he could do us a favour and make a translator so we can understand what the hell he's saying." He sulked.
"You see, energy is never destroyed. It's one of the fundamental laws of science. It can never be destroyed, therefore it can always be found and maybe modified. If I can find the energy trace that caused transportation, then I could recreate a doorway like the ones that brought us here."
At that point Cainn was very tempted to create a Window and show Tobbie exactly what said 'doorway' was like. Childish as he was, he was smart enough to stop himself. "Even if what you say is possible... finding a molecular transponder will not be easy..." It was true too. Cainn was certain that no such a thing existed in Moonlight City, but there was no need to mention that.
"That's true... Molecular transponders are tough to find... I had one, though, back home. It was something I needed for my other inventions."
"You had one?" Cainn was unable to hide his surprise. "What did you use it for?"
"Yeah, Krillia was one of the most technologically enhanced planets ever. Mainly it was just to be used as a part of the..." Tobias looks around, very suspicious of the others. "Alaatel waqit." (time machine)
"If only you knew how impossible such a thing is..." Cainn muttered, shaking his head.
"You're talking of impossibilities when we've somehow crossed worlds? Man are you a few sandwiches short of a picnic...." Jaspar muttered softly under his breath, hoping he wouldn't hear.
"It is not impossible! When we find a molecular transponder, I will prove that it works. Then I will make the device to trace the windows..." Insisted the inventor.
He'd been hearing Jassie and Elia mumble to each other for a while, and at that point Cainn decided to answer, aware that the man had not meant for him to hear. "First: What IS it with you and picnics?! Second: Even in the craziest of worlds exist things that are impossible. Laws of nature cannot be broken. Trust me on that one."
"First: Laws of nature?! Since when has nature allowed us to world hop? 'Hey honey, I'm just going to pop out to Planet Makintblargle for a while, don't wait up!!'" Jaspar waved his hands around in the air eccentrically, releasing Sam from his grip...not that the blond seemed too bothered by this. "Second: I HAPPEN TO BE HUNGRY OKAY!?"
"Laws were meant to be broken. If laws of nature can not be broken, then explain how man can fly or survive at the bottom of the ocean?" Tobias continued.
"And will you speak FRIKKIN ABRAXIAN?!" Jaspar yelled at the scientist.
"What is he saying, by the way?"
"Hey calm down people! Look, do you think you could make a translator Tobbie? They are whining because they cannot understand you. Nerd here says he wants to help track the source of this all. He is also under the illusion that he will be making a time machine. Listen up, you can fly because you work WITH the laws of nature, not against them. You use the laws to your advantage. Can YOU just jump off a cliff and fly? No, because you can't beat gravity. It is a law."
"Wow that's a lot of ridiculous information to take in at once..." Elia smirked. Jaspar stood wide eyed, brain trying to catch up with his ears. Sam couldn't help but smile. This was the longest Jaspar and Elia had gone without trying to kill each other.. he guessed they had more important things to worry about.
"Hey sweet-cheeks, if you ain't got nothing good to say, then don't say anything. Then again that would leave you speechless for the rest of the night..."
Elia fumed at Cainn's remark. "Do NOT call me sweet-cheeks!!" She stomped ahead... regardless of the fact she had no idea where she was going; but it was the principle that mattered.
"Whatever you say babe. Now come back, you know perfectly well that you won't survive it out there alone."
"I'm sure I could do a better job of it than you men." She snapped back behind her. Jaspar giggled childishly. "I'd like to see you try 'sweetcheeks," he grinned, nodding to Cainn.
"That makes two of us," Cainn winked at Jassie's comment. "Come on babe," with that he used a little of his telekinetic powers to tug her back towards them.
"Actually..." Tobias grinned and pulled a small device out from one of his pockets. "I probably could fly."
"I mean unaided," Cainn said, rolling his eyes.
"Unaided is different. With aid we can break nature's laws. Sure, I would be unable to fly unaided, but with aid, I can. If I can fly with help, then I am, in a way, defying nature’s laws. That way, if I aid myself right, I can break them again. As for your previous question, I could probably make a translator, yes.” Tobbie seemed to either be unaware of Elia’s little act, or to ignore it. “I'd need parts though."
Juggling conversations and deciding to drop the "Nature's Laws" topic, Cainn turned to Tobbie, who had just agreed in making a translator. "What parts do you need? That will be the first thing we do when we get to the City, it's the most important at the moment. If we're going to be dealing with different worlds, we need to be able to understand what people are saying. Look, we'll be there soon," he pointed towards the lights ahead of them, much closer now than they were before.
Elia was surprised to suddenly find herself back in the midst of the group. "That was... odd, she thought. She looked around and noticed Jaspar and Sam looked a little confused as well; they knew her well, and were surprised by her sudden 'compliance'. Elia, was now pissed. She fell behind a little more and quietly grasped her pistols in her belt, raising them slowly in Cainn's general direction... she wanted to be ready. She was angry, and she wanted answers.
"Well... The main thing I would need for a translator would be a babelic phishing device, as well as some pads to make it more comfortable on the ears... And a fair few other little bits and pieces that should be easy to find."
"Put those down Elia," Cainn spoke loudly, without even turning to face her. "Killing me now will do you no good."
Jaspar and Sam turned around to face Elia with a look of surprise. "You dumb bitch what do you think you're doing?" Jaspar fumed. Elia's pulse quickened. "How? How did you do it? How are you doing it? Why don't I trust you?!" She growled.
"Those you can find in the City. They may be a bit hard to get though..." Cainn continued speaking with Tobbie, as if nothing had happened.
"Don't ignore me!!" Elia’s voice raised to a yell.
"Price is nothing... Trust me on that." After saying that, Tobias pulled out another small device from a pocket. "I always keep this just in case I need it."
"How do I do it?" Cainn grinned at Elia, this time ignoring Tobias and taking a big step towards her so that they were face-to-face. "If I told you, what fun would it be?" And with that he pulled away. “You were saying, Tobbie?”
Elia nearly dropped her guns. Something about this man put her on edge; which was not easily done. "Y-you..." She breathed quietly unable to speak any louder. Jaspar cocked his head on one side. "Okaaaaay…"
"I was saying, that price is irrelevant when I have this." Tobias shook the little device in his hand again. "I keep it in case of emergencies."
"And how exactly does it work?" Cainn made a move to grab and inspect the device, but Tobbie pulled it away, protective of his invention.
"Well... First of all, nobody else even knows this exists... It's a secret. Somehow I felt I could show it to you. Basically, it allows me to place a small, temporary hole in two separate places that things can travel through."
"So in simple words... stealing?" Cainn flashed him a wide grin.
"Yes. But with almost zero chance of getting caught. I put my hand through the hole, which is only small, pull out what I want, and close it. I've never had to use it before. I tested it once though, by pulling some noodles out of my cupboard. It worked perfectly. Even better, it can be done from a long distance away."
"Tobbie you are becoming a very interesting person... hah, can't wait to get to the City, this'll be a blast! Though you won't be needing that device... Price doesn't matter much here..." And so they kept on walking, all the while getting closer and closer to the Dome of the City. Yes, things were indeed getting interesting...

Moonlight City. If Cainn had a home, that would have to be it. The strange thing was that if you asked him why he was so fond of that world in general he wouldn't know what to reply. Maybe it was the mysterious aura of the moonlit sky that lured him, maybe it was the irrational and wild weather, as mentioned before – he didn’t know! But when it came to the actual City… why, it was the definition of brilliance! Every single building was delicate in its own way, from the tiniest flat to the most intimidating skyscraper, and all were made out of different crystals. Between the buildings the place was filled with all kinds of blue and purple plants, some of them even crawling their way up walls of houses. You see, there were no roads on the ground; they were all situated above the buildings, an aerial highway that was constantly running. In all his years Cainn had never seen the City like it was that cloudless night. The crystals reflected the light of the moons perfectly and, coupled with the reflection of the colourful plants, the buildings seemed to give off an indigo shine, becoming almost one with the sky.
“Okay listen up!” Cainn stopped walking and turned towards the strange group he had found himself with. “We are about to enter the City and for your sake we are going to use a… ‘back door’. Of course you do realise that such a thing requires discretion from our part.” “Why, you got something to hide?” Caless said, suspiciously. “I am simply being wise, you should try that now and then,” Cainn replied, before he could stop himself. He had to get Caless to trust him and that was probably not the best way, but he couldn’t help it. “How will the people react if they see you ‘alien’ creatures simply marching into the City? It would definitely cause uproar and we don’t want that – we need to lie low. A friend of mine lives outside the Centre, so we’ll stay with him, away from most of the fuss.”
Cainn went silent for a moment, waiting to see if anyone wanted to say anything, but as no one spoke, he decided to continue. “As I was saying, we need to be discreet, so we can’t enter the City from the main entrance. Luckily I happen to know another way in – I discovered it when I was out exploring about 20 years ago.” It was true too. Okay so maybe it sounded as if he were a child back then, but honestly he never mentioned such a thing!
“There is just one tiny problem… That entrance is situated under the plate.” At that point Cainn pointed towards the City, which was built on a huge ‘plate’. Which was held up by four large pillars. Hundreds of feet above the sea. "Under the plate lies a smaller platform. If we get there, we'll be able to get in. Tobbie… you did mention you could fly…”

Elvalia was cowering in the bushes when the creature neared her. She flinched, but didn't move: her face was still tense, and it seemed as if something was holding her to her place.
All at once, Elvalia calmed down. She turned her head to the creature, staring at it.
The creature smiled, and pointed at the horizon. There were lights there.
Elvalia started to move in that direction, when she suddenly startled. Her body shook for a few seconds, and a look of terror filled her face.
She started running. Away, away from the lights...

[Joint RP with HB and Tundra. It was fun xD Oh, I edited a few stuff, so if there's anything you wanna change feel free to edit.]
“Yeah, I can fly...” Tobbie replied. “The only problem is, it only lets one person fly at a time, and I'm not exactly strong... I can't carry anyone.” "What exactly is IT?" Cainn asked, without attempting to hide his curiosity. Tobias got slightly worried, and decided to ask a question first. "First, Cainn, can you translate for me? I'd like to know if anyone here has the same shoe size as me, and are strong enough to carry someone..."
Shoe size? What does that have to do with anything? Cainn wondered, but repeated Tobbie's question nonetheless, careful to use Abraxian instead of the universal language. Then he repeated the same thing in English, for Caless. "I beg your pardon?" Jaspar interjected. "Show size. You know what that is Jassie." Cainn told him. "Yes... but, what has that got to do with anything? Bit of an odd pick up line don't you think?" He smirked. "You're the last person I'd try to 'pick up' don't worry." Cainn rolled his eyes. "Now will you answer or not?" Caless, getting rather tired of them, decided to speak then. "I'm a 10. I don't know what that translates to though."
Tobias perked up as Caless mentioning his shoe size. "Size 10? Great, great." At this, Tobbie began to remove his shoes. "What are you doing?!" Caless exclaimed. Flying shoes, Cainn realised. How fascinating! "Okay, what you need to know, Caless, is that these shoes are actually rocket powered. I have a control device that brings out high-powered rockets from small compartments. This will allow you to fly." Tobias grinned as he removed his shoes and passed them to Caless. "Don't worry, they're perfectly safe."
At that Cainn turned to Sam, Elia and Jaspar. "Those shoes can fly. Tough guy's gonna fly us over." Elia's face froze. "You're kidding me right?" Sam and Jaspar looked startled too. "Or I could wear'em and carry you myself, if you'd like that best," Cainn winked at Elia, causing her to scowl at him, anger in her face apparent. Caless took the shoes in his hands, eyeing them carefully. "I'm not sure about this..." He mumbled.
Tobias pulled out the control device and showed it to Caless. "Okay, Caless, this remote controls the shoes. The 'on' button turns them on, the 'off' button turns them off. Obvious so far, but this little wheel at the side adjusts power. However, since you need your hands free to carry people, I will adjust the power for you. I already know all the settings and what they do. You're in safe hands." "And how do I steer this thing?"
Jaspar cocked his head on one side. "Hold the phone... there's only one pair?!" "Have you been under a rock all this time? Of course there's only one pair! That's why Avril's gonna carry us!" Cainn replied. "Hey watch it pal!! I'm not being carried by anyone! I'm no drunk chick you picked up in a fucking BAR!" Jaspar raged. Sam cringed at the raised voices and tried to pay attention to what Tobbie was saying… not that he understood, but he could get the general idea.
"You steer by changing the position of your feet. If you want to go forward, tilt your feet behind you. To go backwards, tilt them in front of you. To turn, well... It's more like strafing than turning, but you get the idea, right?" "Riiiight......" Caless stretched the word out, while trying the shoes on. Tobbie grimaced slightly at Caless' reaction. "It might be best if you practiced a bit first, before you started carrying people." "Agreed... Okay put the power up!"
At that, Tobias checked to make sure Caless had everything right, which, of course, he did, because it's very easy to put a pair of shoes on. "Okay, you ready? I'll start it off weak, just to get you off the floor, then we'll set it higher for you to fly properly, so you can get used to the force." Caless nodded, but as he felt the shoes move he turned to Tobias. "Are you sure about this? Can't you steer it, like you do with the power or somethin?" Winding the wheel down to a low setting, low enough that Caless should simply hover an inch or two off the floor, Tobbie replied: "I'm afraid I can't, but you should have full control over that." He pressed the button and the rockets started up. The Abraxian trio all jumped back at the start of the power. They were fascinated.
Cainn watched silently, quite amused by the look on Avril's face. "This is going to be interesting..." He whispered to Elia. "Interesting? Is that the word yer gonna use?" She frowned. "Fun, entertaining, amuzing, fascinating, take your pick." "It's a disaster waitin' t' happen," muttered the woman. "When you're ready for a higher power setting, give me a thumbs up, okay?" Tobias grinned and watched as Caless started practicing. Strangely enough, it was not as hard as Avril had imagined. The boots were specifically designed to be user-friendly, he figured. Tobias gave a wry smile. It would seem easy now, but when the jets got stronger, they would be harder to control...
It wasn’t long before Caless was ready, and told Tobias to raise the power settings. The inventor gave a thin smile, and cranked the power up to the amount that would be needed to take them up to the dome. Around half the full amount. "This is as strong as we should need it to be!" The shoes shot up, Caless almost losing his balance as they did so. He swayed to the left, he swayed to the right, went around in quite a few circles and did a clumsy flip before he was able to stand still. It was trickier than before, now with the power up, but Caless figured the shoes would give him no trouble. He just needed to practice... "Give me a few minutes..." He told Tobias, his eyes fixed on the rocket-shoes.
Jaspar frowned watching Caless struggle with the power… still it was better than he'd be able to do. "It seems we have some time before we take off," Cainn explained to the three Abraxians and sat on a nearby rock. "Any last words?" A wicked grin was etched on his face. Tobias gave an exasperated sigh. "Cainn... Don't talk like that. They're worried enough as it is!" "I hate you." Jaspar and Elia said in almost perfect unison. Sam smiled weakly and nodded. "I'm ready" "C'mon, can't a guy have his fun now and then?" Cainn smirked. Sam grinned. "Apparently not!" Tobias looked somewhat annoyed. "It's cruel, that's all I'm saying." Then he turned his attention back to Caless.
They sat silently for a while, watching the man flying. Then Cainn suddenly spoke up, "How do you all feel? Being here?" He did not ask out of concern, but curiosity. Again he used the universal language. It had been a while since he'd been around people and he enjoyed studying them and their reactions. Sam looked at his companions, who seemed sceptical. "I guess that... it's a bit of a shock." Jaspar scoffed. "A bit? Understatement mate.” Tobias perked up, still keeping his eyes on Caless and grinned. "Well, it could be worse. We're here, we're learning new things, we're not doing too badly, all things considered. We could've been sent to a world of carnivorous Sligs, so we have that to be grateful for." The Sligs that Tobias mentioned were, of course, another sci-fi creation. They are best left undescribed. Jaspar sighed and pushed his hair out of his eyes "I'd rather be asleep in a bed." Before Cainn could make a sly comment on that, Caless' voice sounded, strong and confident. "I'm ready!"
Tobias grinned yet again. "Great, come over here and I'll lower the settings for you, so you can hover and lift us." Caless did as told and soon he was hovering above Cainn, suddenly finding himself hoping Tobias would lower him enough to be able to kick the hat of his head. Cainn of course saw that and immediately moved out of the way, just as Avril was coming down, smirking at him as he did so. "I think Elia should go first," he then suggested, with obvious amusement. Elia's eyes widened. "No chance." "Chicken..." Tobias sighed. "Y'know what? I'll go first. Lets prove this is safe, eh?" "Okay then. Here goes nothin..." Caless said as he wrapped his arms around Tobias, holding him tightly under his arms.
It was slightly awkward, the closeness with a stranger, but he had seen far worse things at war to dwell on that. Tobias altered the power of the rockets, and the two of them shot higher in the sky, until they stopped just high enough to get under the dome. Caless was slightly unstable, but otherwise good with the shoes. The practice had certainly helped. Caless tilted his feet, and allowed his body to lean into the air as he travelled. Before long, they were under the dome, and Tobias dropped down to a small platform. "Good job, Caless... Now go back for the others."
Avril quickly flew over to the rest of the group and before long Sam and Jaspar were safely on the platform under the dome as well. When it was Cainn's turn, Caless thought about dropping him multiple times, as he kept making sarcastic comments on his poor flying skills. When they finally got him to the platform, Caless dropped Cainn rather clumsily on the metal floor, then he turned to him and spoke: "What are those things?" he pointed at the black tentacles which seemed to grow on the end of the platform. "They look like... vines! Or hair!" "They are used to move the Dome. When given the command they grow and carry it wherever the Upelas - the people - want to go." Cainn explained, with a monotonous voice.
Not finding it too interesting, Caless simply nodded and went to get Elia, who was not pleased at all with the travelling arrangements. She was the hardest one to carry, because with the slightest sway she struggled. The woman was hating the contact with him, and detesting her lack of control. As they got nearer, Caless grimaced, he could feel her starting to slip from his grip slightly. "No, stop struggling!" This only caused her to struggle more though. They just reached the ledge when his grip failed. As Elia fell, she managed to just barely land on the edge of the platform, and grabbed hold of the nearest person: Tobias. And as she did so to stop herself from falling, she knocked the remote right out of his hands.
"NO!" Tobias quickly reached out, trying to grasp the remote out of the air, but he too started to fall. He was quickly pulled back by Jassie, but the remote was gone. It hit one of the tentacles outside the platform, turning the wheel on the side. This brief contact raised the power in the rockets up to maximum, sending Caless straight up at an alarming speed. Tobias was struggling back onto the platform as Caless hit the bottom of the dome, smashing his face off the underside, before the remote hit the water and short-circuited. The power of the boots quickly disappeared, and Caless fell down, down into the water below.
The group stood still for a bit, not having registered exactly what had happened. Only Cainn, who was standing on the edge of the platform, staring at the spot where the man had fallen, was not in shock. He could save him. He could so very easily save him. And yet he simply watched as Caless sank deeper into the abyss that was Moonlight City’s ocean. You see, Cainn was capable of flying: using his telepathic powers he could steer the particles of air around him in such a way that they enabled him to defy gravity. But saving Caless would only bring him trouble. The man didn’t trust him and was quite hard to manipulate. Not to mention that the group would have a lot of questions, if they found out that Cainn had been capable of flying all along. No, things were best left as they were. One less person to worry about, Cainn decided and took a few steps back, tearing his gaze away from the water.
Then Sam let out a horrified cry, as if he'd suddenly awoken from a slumber. "We have to help him!” At that, without thinking, he tried to jump in after Caless, only to be stopped by Cainn's firm grasp. "Are you MAD?" Sam yelled at Cainn. "He's going to drown! DO SOMETHING!" He turned to Tobias, eyes pleading. "LET ME JUMP!" He then shouted in Cainn's face, who was still holding him. Tobias had a grim look on his face. "If I could do anything about it, I would have done it already..." "It's too late." Cainn replied rather calmly, considering their situation. "If you jump you'll drown. The water down there is too thick - you can't swim in there, let alone carry an unconscious man with you." "So what, we're just gonna watch him die?" Jaspar spoke then. "He's already dead mate..." Sam shook his head, not wanting to believe that. "Surely there must be something-" "There's NOTHING. You can't change what's happened. Nothing you do ever will. Accept that." Cainn’s tone was firm.
All that while Elia remained silent and pulled away. Was she responsible for what had happened? NO! she shouted in her head. Of course NOT! It was not my fault the man couldn't fly properly. I didn't sign up for this! Tobias looked almost grief stricken. "No... No... It was supposed to be safe... Elia... I can understand you not liking it, but why did you have to struggle?" Elia didn't need to understand Tobias' language to know what he was talking about. The look he gave her said everything. "IT WASN'T MY FAULT!" She snapped at him. Tobias was shocked by her outburst, he had no idea what she was saying, but he shouted back anyway. "You killed him! Don't even try to deny it! You knocked the remote out of my hand!" He gestured, imitating something hitting his hand and knocking something out of it. "That's what killed him!" "You weren't holding it properly!" she shot back, showing him her hand and indicating that it was holding something loosely. "I was, but I wasn't expecting some dumb bitch to come dropping onto my hands!" Tobias shouted, causing Elia to swear - she was trying very hard not to hit the man.
Cainn shook his head. How pointless their argument was. Death was a part of life. They had to accept that and move on. That day Caless died, the next it would be someone else. He didn't understand what all the fuss was about. Then again, it was easy for him to say that, never having to face death. "Does it even matter?" Cainn spoke up, moving to stand between Tobias and Elia. "What's done is done." Tobias snapped at Cainn. "Of course it matters! I'm getting blamed for something that wasn't my fault, and because of it, someone died!" "If you figure out whose fault it is, is it going to magically bring Caless back from the dead?" Tobias grimaced and placed one hand in his pocket, just in case the argument got out of control. "Of course not! But if I'm going to get blamed for something, it should be for something I did!"
Shaking his head, Cainn decided to drop the subject. Just another life lost. They'll get over it, he thought and then spoke aloud: "We should move. If we stay here, chances are they well discover us and Caless' death will be for nothing." He knew that something like that was most likely to get them going. Tobias grimaced yet again. He'd been doing a lot of grimacing lately. "Fine... But we should be more careful than we just were. We don't want to lose anyone else." "Whatever you say," Cainn mumbled before turning to the Abraxians, ignoring the indecipherable, vacant expression on Jaspar's face. "Lets go." He traced the plate above them with his hand, as it was low enough for him to reach it, and felt the familiar patters of the cold metal brush against the tips of his fingers. It wasn't long before he found it. With a slight push on certain areas, Cainn was able to open a trapdoor, which led straight through the plate and into the City.

After climbing up a metallic ladder for a few minutes, the group emerged through a pile of purple plants within the Dome. They were far from the centre of Moonlight City, near the edge of the upper plate, so there was no one to be seen. There were a few building to be seen, mostly small country houses, and above them a thin, aerial road with no vehicles coming and going. Though it was obvious that – compared to what they could make of the City – the houses were poor, they were made out of a brown crystal that shone brilliantly under the moonlight.
“Stay close,” Cainn warned, keeping his voice relatively low, because you never know. “We are going for that house over there,” and he pointed at said building. It was just a few minutes away. The others nodded and walked with him, but no one said a word. Cainn didn’t know whether it was because of Caless’ death, or because they were in awe.
“I’ll go in and explain first… Don’t do anythin’ stupid.” Cainn said once they arrived, not bothering to stay around long enough to hear an answer. He darted off to the front door and found it unlocked as usual, so he silently let himself in. Without the light of the moon hitting it, the crystal looked a lot duller inside the house. The owner, knowing that, had filled the walls with all sorts of paintings, in an attempt to brighten the place up. Not that it was working.
“Cainn,” a voice called out from behind him, coming from a dark red chair in the corner. “It’s been a long time.” “Indeed it has. How have you been Heirbert?” Cainn moved his lips into something that resembled a smile and took a seat as well. Heirbert was an Upela and like all Upelas he had the legs of a horse, snow-white hair and a pair of horns on his head. His ears were also quite longer than Cainn’s, with tuffs of hair on the tips. He looked about 70 years old – perhaps a bit older now that he’d let his beard grow - but he still kept his young spirit. “Same old, same old! Reading books, studying languages, you know the deal. But what about you? Seems you’ve been busy. Do tell me what brings you here.” The Upela’s voice sounded old and gravelly, but still strong and confident. “Something’s happened. Something big.” A huge grin crept over his face. “There are others here. I told them to wait outside for me to announce them.” He added that part first, to ensure than Heirbert would not say too much, in case anyone was overhearing. “Others? Upelas you mean? What are they-” “No. Not Upelas. People from other worlds. They just crossed to this one.” “Excuse me?” “Something’s happened and Windows have been opening at random. I had nothing to do with it, I simply stumbled upon a few people who crossed.” “That is most curious…” “Yes it is. We need a place to stay and you’re the first person I could come to.” “Cainn, I’m the only person you could come to!” Heirbert laughed heartedly. “Should I tell them to come in then?” “Might as well. Oh, what lan-” “Abraxian, Krillian and English.” Cainn said and gave a small demonstration of each language. “English I know, Krillian I have never heard of. Abraxian sounds a lot like Mohen, so I think I’ll be fine.” “Alright then, be back in a bit,” and he darted outside to get the others.

[TUNDRA: didn't want to control your characters much so they don't appear a lot. Cann told them as he led the group inside the house and to the small hall where Heirbert sat. Instantly, the Upela stood up and greeted them, with an honest smile on his face. Clearly he was much warmer with people than Cainn and though the old Upela looked a lot less human – having the legs of a horse, horns, long ears etc. – they felt more at ease around him. “Why isn’t he wearing anything?” Jaspar whispered to Cainn. “The Upelas don’t need clothes. The fur on their legs and their long hair keeps them as warm as they need,” he quickly explained. Tobias smiled and reached his hand out to Heirbert for a handshake. "Nice to meet you, Heirbert. I'm Tobias." Heirbert looked at Tobias, then at his extended arm. What did the man expect him to do? Was he asking for something? Was there something wrong with his hand? Tearing his gaze away from the man’s arm, he spoke: "Hello Tobias. You already know my name, so I'll just say it's nice to meet you too." His English accent was not flawless, but still very good. Tobias looked awkwardly at his hand, wondering why Heirbert was not shaking it in greeting. On the other hand, it was good to hear someone else speaking English. "Cool... Erm..." Tobias withdrew his hand. Did Heirbert not understand the gesture? "Is there..." Heirbert started, not sure how to put it. "Is there something wrong with your hand?" Tobias finally realised, Heirbert had no idea what it meant to shake a hand. "Umm... No, it's a greeting gesture. I figured it might be understood here, but apparently not. My mistake." "A greeting gesture? Ah of course! Cainn has told me about-" But then he stopped, due to the death glare Cainn shot him. "Anyway," he quickly continued, "here we don't have such gestures, we simply say hello!" "What the hell are they going on about?" Jaspar turned to Sam. "Something about shaking hands. I think the man with the horse-legs doesn't know what it is." He replied. "Ah, hello to you too." Heirbert remembered that he had other guests as well. They didn't understand English, so he tried Mohen, which sounded a lot like Abraxian. The three seemed to understand him, since they greeted him as well. "So if them three speak Abraxian and this man speaks English, who's Krillian?" Heirbert asked Cainn in Upelean, knowing he'd understand. "The nerdy one." Cainn looked at Tobbie. "His first language is that, but he can speak English as well. Only a few Krillian words slip out when he's furstrated. I'd know..." At that point Heirbert started coughing, his whole body shaking as he did so. Cainn moved calmly and picked up a small box of pills from the table. "Haven't forgotten those again, have you?" He raised an eyebrow. Still coughing, Heirbert swore. With a swift move he opened the box and swallowed two pills. "This is terrible," he grumbled. Tobias looked on, concerned. "Are you okay, Heirbert? What's wrong?" "No need to worry. My hooves are not as strong as they used to be young man..." Heirbert replied with a smile, taking a seat. "How old IS this guy?" Elia muttered to Jaspar in a slight mocking voice. The woman only meant for the two Abraxians to hear, but an Upela's hearing is much than a human's, so Heirbert understood her clearly. Surprisingly enough, he did not get mad. He simply snorted. “When you’re dealing with parallel worlds, years are of no importance. Each place has a different measure for age; you will never be able to make sense of it! Judging from the look of your clothes and the fact that you are a human being, I can say your world has a much different measure than mine - Tobias over there must be about 25 years old. The only thing that matters though is the biological and mental age of a creature. According to you, Cainn is about 1000 years old, looks like 25, and acts like he’s 5!” Tobbie looked confused by what was being said. He had a feeling it was important. "Cainn... What did he just say, there?" Before Cainn could stop him, Heirbert explained what he'd just said. Cainn gritted his teeth. He should have known that Heirbert wouldn't have been capable of being discreet. It just wasn't in his nature. Tobias was shocked by this news. "Cainn is a thousand years old? Wow..." Elia, Jaspar and Sam looked just as shocked, but said nothing. "Yes. But as Heirbert said it doesn't matter. Moving on." Cainn rolled his eyes. 23:07 "You guys seem tired," Heirbert suddenly sprang up. "Come, I'll show you to your rooms. You'll be needing some sleep." He spoke mostly to the Abraxians, because Tobias seemed to be wide awake. It took them a while to get Elia to follow Heirbert to the rooms, since she didn't want to miss out on anything, but soon enough her fatigue got the best of her. It wasn't long before Heirbert, Tobias and Cainn were left alone in the hall. "I hope you'll excuse me. There are a few things... I need to take care of." Cainn said, giving Heirbert a knowing look. He needed to feed; it had been weeks since the last time he'd done so. He wouldn't be able to last much longer. "Yes, yes of course," the Upela understood at once. "Surely Tobias won't mind. I'm sure he'll be full of questions I'll be glad to answer." Cainn nodded and moved for the door, but not before giving Heirbert a "just-don't-give-too-much-away" look. Tobias waved at Cainn, smiling as he left. "Goodbye Cainn!" Tobias got a bit more serious as Cainn left. "Heirbert, I want to ask you something about yourself, before we move on..." "Fire away! But let us sit down first." And he pointed to a big, round couch in the corner. "Sure." Tobias moved over to the couch, allowing Heirbert to sit down first. The Upela picked his favourite side of the couch - he couldn't help but have one - and after making sure his hooves were clean enough - he hadn't gone out all day - he brought them up and crossed his legs. "So...?" Tobias sat down next to the Upela, with his legs out in front of him. "I would like to ask about the coughing earlier... Are you ill? I mean, if it isn't too much trouble, I could perhaps make some new medicine for you... I'm an inventor, you see." "And inventor yes, but not a doctor!" the Upela laughed. "And even the best doctors cannot heal my illness. I have the old-age syndrome!" "I see..." Tobias smiled, and pressed on regardless. "However, you took some pills earlier to help yourself with some symptoms, and I think maybe I could make some more effective medicine for you." "Well they say my lungs have been affected by the toxic. Bah, I still think it's old age! I'm not sure exactly how the supposed toxic works though. The only thing I know is the coughing!" Tobias frowned briefly. "The toxic? I suppose it could be possibly to make something to counteract it... I would need a sample of the toxic first, though." "Why, there's probably some inside you right now!" Heirbert gestured towards the man's chest, towards his lungs. "The place outside the Dome is filled with it. The air in here is filtered, so us Upelas can live healthily. Don't be fooled by tonight's calmness. It is a dangerous world out there. Horrible weather, and the air is poison."
