This RPG I planned with Tundra. We will still have our characters but we will be introducing two new ones too.
It takes place near the end of the Golden Age and goes up to a few years before the Falling Generation.
Message to OWA: Beware, your character will not be the most overpowered one for long...
*tear* We'll see about that. Wait till the Rebirth RP kicks in....

Choethel sensed it at once, the unfamiliar presence crossing the castle’s walls. It was powerful. Too powerful for its own good. Even he, as a Sprit, felt slightly threatened. With his four dragon legs he rushed to the main entrance, while letting Samantha know of the intruder. His dragon form was the one he always adopted now – he hadn’t been in his human body in months. It was better that way, to try and be rational, to attempt to set aside any human emotions which could overwhelm him. And as he was able to focus more when in his Sprit form, it was easier not to think about her and the pain he was feeling inside. Tundra. Cho shook his head, trying to shove the memories out of his mind. She was gone and it was for the best.
The Queen was now by his side and she knew the struggle that was taking place in his head and soul, so she remained quiet. When they reached the doors, she drew out her sword defensively, then with her free hand, she pushed them open. Cho scanned the area for the intruder, but he was nowhere to be seen.
Impossible, the Sprit spoke to SD through their mind connection, I can still sense him, he’s here, so can you! The woman’s eyes flashed to the ground and immediately widened. Cho, she mumbled, finger pointing down. He looked to where she was pointing and his eyes widened as well.
There, in a hand-made basket, lay a baby.

Could it be a trap? Cho suggested, looking around cautiously. Negative. The baby is the only presence I sense, Queen SD shook her head. What do we do with it? The Sprit asked with worry, picking up the basket in his mouth, being as gentle as possible. Well we can’t just leave it here. No different than any other intruder, we identified it as a threat, Samantha took the basket from the dragon, eyeing the young one. Should we get rid of it? “No!” Cho shouted out immediately, surprising even himself. I mean… The boy must hold at least some magical abilities. We could have him grow up here, start training him from an early age and before you know it, he’ll be one of our most powerful and loyal warriors! SD let out a dramatic “hmmmmm” before giving the nod. The baby would be kept. Don’t worry, he will be watched closely, Cho reassured her. I will look to that personally. I will be his tutor.
Then she took the two-year-old in her hands and inspected him, hoping that marks on his body would give away where he had come from. His skin was as pale as Cho’s and yet he was neither a vampire nor a Sprit. His hair was as dark as the darkest pits of the underworld and had a wild, wavy shape. The eyes where what caught the Queen’s attention though. They were a piercing shade of black, while his iris was shining silver. At first she had thought it was a trick of the light – thanks to the snow that was covering the whole island, everything seemed unnaturally bright – but after she had gotten a closer look she was sure. “You know,” she whispered to Cho, “I am not certain about how human this boy is.”

*A few weeks later* “Nathaniel!” Cho ran after the boy. The Dark SiDers were relaxing in the winter chamber, drinking hot chocolate and watching the snow silently fall out the window. The two-year-old he and Samantha had found, not too long ago, was now exploring the fireplace. While it was lit. Choethel was once again in his human form, in order to look after the little one; he already felt attached to him. “You named him?” Queen SD shook her head. “Don’t I have a say in it?” The Sprit laughed. “Of course not. To both questions. Actually, the name came with the baby,” he shrugged. “I didn’t see a note…” “There was no note. He just told me. Besides, Nathaniel – Angel of Fire - is a brilliant name for him, don’t you think?” He pointed to the boy who was letting the flames caress the skin of his hand, without burning him. “He spoke? He has never attempted to talk before,” her voice indicated that she was not too convinced. “I know, it only happened once. He said his name was Nathaniel, nothing else.” “Alright then, I suppose that settles it. Nathaniel it is.” Choethel smiled. Samantha was relieved to see him happy; ever since Tundra had left, he had sunken into a numb, depressed state. This baby, no matter its origin, had given him his life back, his reason for existence and for that she cherished it. “Will you get out of the fireplace Nathaniel? You could her hurt,” she warned him, but as usual he pretended not to hear. “Oh let him play! Does it seem like he’s getting hurt to you?” Nolana spoke up playfully. “He’s born to play with fire,” the elf winked. Nathaniel then very quietly sat down, by the fire, closing his eyes as he did so. Samantha’s head was immediately filled with a very vivid image of the pineapple c.ake they had had after dinner, coupled with a feeling of hunger. The Queen was not taken by surprise – it was not the first time little Nathaniel was using that special power of his to communicate. “No,” she explained, “there is no c.ake left. You should try and have a bit of your fruit, if you’re hungry.” The boy’s eyes flashed with anger. He was not pleased. Inexplicably, the delicate vase on the small, wooden table by the window – which just happened to be the most expensive object in the room – blew up into a million pieces. Then as if nothing had happened, Nathaniel continued playing with the dancing flames. Queen SD took in a deep breath, wanting to remain calm and not react harshly. A minor demon materialized and begun to clean up the mess, after she had snapped her fingers. “We will have to watch that temper of his.” _______ NATHANIEL!!!

The woman cradled the child in her arms as tears rolled down her face. The young girl clutched a lock of her mothers hair, as if to distract her from her sorrow.
Suddenly, the door opened, and a cloaked man sheltered himself from the raging storm outside. He sighed heavily when he saw the womans tear stained cheeks.
"I was going to ask how you were doing; but I guess that the answer is pretty apparent." His voice was tired and worn. The woman sniffed. "No, no I'm fine. Honest... no seriously, I'm fine!" She repeated after seeing the look of utter disbelief on the man's face. "How's she doing?" "She fine, a little grizzly, misses her brother that's all.. don't you sweetheart." Her voice began to crack.
The man ran over to her and swept the mother and child up in his arms. Though his build was slim and spindly, great strength lay beneath his cloak, even though age had taken its toll.
"You made the right decision." He whispered in her ear. "I know... but it doesn't stop it from being hard." She choked a reply to her old friend. "I know sweetheart, I know. You just need to do your job as a mother now, put the past behind you." "But you can't make me forge-" "I'm not asking you to forget about him. I'm asking you not to neglect your daughter, she needs you. She's not as independant as Nathaniel was." "Is." The woman spat. The man blushed drew himself away from their embrace. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that." She glared furiously at him. "He will never be forgotten." She snapped, venom in her words. The man sighed again, and brushed his hand through his thinning hair, eyes creased with years of experience. "I just hope you don't forget that you made the right decision, you know he'll be safe there. You've got to trust your instincts; they seem sharp enough. You just doubt yourself."
The pair reflected upon these words as they watched the little girl coo in her mothers arms. "My precious little Marianne..."

Cho was still watching the boy play with the fireplace, though the fire was dying down. Midnight, the Dark SiDers had retreated to their bedrooms for the night. Only the Sprit and Samantha now remained in the winter chamber, along with the toddler. "Does he ever get tired?" Samantha whispered to Cho, both lying on the large couch in the centre of the room. "It's amazing isn't it? Doesn't need sleep, doesn't need any rest. His energy is unbelievable," he spoke with a proud tone. Then he turned to Samantha and brushed a thick curl out of her face. "Yours on the other hand..." The Queen let out a grumble. "I am fine, I do not need any rest." “Samantha, ever since we found the boy you have not slept once.” “Have you?” She tried to flip it on him, even though she knew it would do no good. “Nice try. But I am not human – I do not need any sleep.” The woman let faint smile form on her lips. “If you had told me that when I had first met you, I would have believed you. After 133 years of being connected – body and soul – do you honestly believe that we are the same? Look at me… I can go on for days without sleeping, my eyes are getting a silver tint, I am not even ageing! And look at you… The human emotions you have experienced – happiness, sadness, anger, nostalgia…” her voice tailed off as she felt Choethel stiffen close to her. “Once upon a time I was a human and once upon a time you were a Sprit. The nature we have adopted now is a different story.”
As Cho’s muscles relaxed, they lay in silence; only the low sound of the last sparks fighting to break free from the flames sounded in the room, Nathaniel ambitiously trying to catch them before they die out. “I wonder what his story is.” Cho didn’t need to look over to the boy at the fireplace for Samantha to know whom he was talking about. She shrugged – as simple as that – she did not know the answer. Suddenly, Choethel sat up from his relaxed position and SD could almost see a light bulb flash above his head. “What?” “Have you noticed anything strange about Nathaniel?” He asked rhetorically. The Queen gave him a funny look. “I mean, anything other than the fact that he does not sleep, doesn’t get burned, can blow up anything he wants just by looking at it and has a silver iris.” “Enlighten me,” Queen SD let out a sigh, not being as excited as her Sprit friend was. “We have never needed to change his diapers. Is he even wearing any?” The woman was taken aback by that new realization. “How did I not notice this?” She brought her palm to her face, surprised with her own lack of attention. “Maybe he’s doing it while we’re not watching…” “Samantha, we are always watching,” Cho had a point. Still that didn’t stop the Queen from asking the toddler. “Nathaniel… If you need to go to the loo, you should just say so.” She didn’t bother waiting for an answer, the boy never made the effort. This time, however, she had caught his attention. “I do not have the need to visit the restroom,” he left them both with their mouths hanging. “My mother did but I was different.” The maturity in his voice did not match his age.
Then it was like he had been given the silence pill. Samantha and Cho begged him to talk again, to try to explain but he went on with his ignoring routine, playing with the fire and not letting out a word.

“Well he is definitely not human.” Queen SD and Cho – now in his dragon form - were trying to put the clues together, in order to figure out the mystery that was Nathaniel. “Then what? Elf? It is obvious that he’s not one of their kind. There is a possibility that he has a few elf genes in him though.” Samantha nodded at the dragon’s suggestion. “What other creature’s genes would be needed, in order to create this boy?” “He sure does posses some strong emotions. Though he has difficulty controlling them at times…” Don’t worry little one, I understand how hard those human emotions can be. Sometimes even I feel overwhelmed, he spoke in his mind as if the toddler could hear him. But as the baby turned his head towards him and looked at him with his onyx eyes, Cho was sure that he had understood. "So he must have some human genes in him as well... I have a feeling we're still missing something. The eyes, the power... Perhaps demon?" As Samantha spoke the last word, they both turned towards Nathaniel, who was innocently playing with a pineapple. "No way." They said simultaneously with confidence.

"Nonononononononono!!!!" Mother squealed as she lifted the skunk out from the child's play pen. "Marianne! How many times have I told you no animals in the house?" She tentatively picked up the squriming creature and hurried over to the wooden front door. Marianne cooed happily from the floor. Her mother ran outside in the bitter wind and placed the skunk down on the ground next to an old tree, so it had some protection from the howling gale. "Be safe little one. I'm sorry, but she's ill at the moment; come play some other time okay?"She smiled and pet its head as it turned away and trotted happily into the shelter of the forest. "So there you are." A voice from behind called before being swept away with the wind. She shot around; before sighing with relief. "Oh, it's only you... let's both go inside, it's too cold out here." OOC: Okay, I know it's short, but I'm tired.

After a while Queen SD and Choethel gave up trying to figure out what exactly Nathaniel was and focused on his upbringing. They trained him together and the boy was a quick learner – at the age of five he was perfectly capable of handling a sword and summoning quite powerful spells.
When Nathaniel was six years old, Queen Samantha gave birth to her daughter, Shea, so the boy was mostly left to Cho’s care. The mysterious child still refused to converse with other people, even though he could understand everything that was going on around him. Because of his strange personality and power, no one but SD and Cho was too fond of being around him, so Nathaniel was left alone most of the time – just as he wished.
And so Nathaniel grew to be ten years old, becoming the youngest Elite warrior the Dark SiDe had ever known.
_______
Ten year old Nathaniel was sitting on the castle’s roof, gazing and the sun sinking in the sea. “It is beautiful I suppose…” he mumbled. “But how beautiful can a world be in which one does not belong?” You are too young son, to be able to tell where you belong, the voices in his head whispered. They were neither male nor female, they didn’t even make a sound – they just were and they just spoke silent words only the boy could understand.

>Nathaniel’s POV< (I’m not going to do it in 1st person, but I’m going to write as if Nathaniel is thinking it)
Human voices reached his ears, first distant and faded, then louder and clearer. Someone was heading outside; Nathaniel sat up as the front doors of the castle opened. Two women stood there; he identified them as Samantha and Nolana, followed by Choethel, who was holding a very sleepy Shea.
“Travel safe Nolana,” he heard the Queen speak. Nolana was leaving? “Thank you SD, for everything,” there was a slight sadness in her voice. If she is sad of saying goodbye, then why is she leaving? “Goodbye, may we cross paths once again in the future,” it was Cho who spoke this time. That means she’s going away for a long time… “Goodbye Samantha, bye Cho,” the elf smiled, then turned to baby Shea. “Goodbye little one, I hope I get to meet you when you’re all grown up.”
His curiosity getting the best of him, Nathaniel jumped off the roof and levitated to the ground, next to the Dark SiDers. They were all quite surprised to see him there, since they had not been able to sense his presence. Then again, they never could. Their detection skills were pretty weak, compared to his – maybe Choethel could pose a challenge but Nathaniel wasn’t too convinced about it.
“Nathaniel, when did you learn how to levitate? It should be impossible for someone your age…” the elf sounded fascinated. The boy couldn’t understand why, after all he could do a lot of things that should have been impossible for someone his age. Actually, he could just do a lot of things that should have been impossible – end of story. He let out a sigh – the elf would never understand. Ignoring her question, he posed one of his own. “Why are you leaving?” A sad smile formed on Nolana’s lips but she said nothing. “You don’t want to leave,” it was simply a statement. “A part of me doesn’t want to leave indeed,” she nodded. Queen SD and Choethel were observing their conversation with wonder, as Nathaniel rarely ever spoke. “Then stay.” “I am going to visit an old friend of mine, she needs me more than you guys need me right now.” “So you can’t stay. Why?” “I am afraid I can’t. You see, my time in the Dark SiDe – at least for now - is over.” “Why?” Nathaniel pushed. “Through your life, you will know when your time on a certain place is over. It’s like the end of an era. We need to move on, because the world is not meant to remain stable, it has to change and it is the changes and choices each and every one of us makes that make it happen.”
For the first time, Nathaniel found himself unable to understand. Maybe he knew less than he had thought after all.

Post by Queen SD on May 26, 2009 16:54:59 GMT
After his relatively long conversation with Nolana, Nathaniel realised that one could get interesting information when conversing with other people. That was the reason he decided to break his habit of avoiding speech and start talking to the Dark SiDers – mostly to Choethel and Samantha. Both were infinitely happy that he did so; at first they bombarded him with questions about his power and origins, but Nathaniel was very secretive about that. Not once would he slip and give away even the slightest detail about himself. They weren’t ready to know, not yet.
__________
“Nathaniel!” It was SD who was calling out after him. For a few moments the boy ignored her and simply sat on his much too favourite spot on the roof. As the woman’s voice grew louder though, he got tired of not answering and teleported to her side.
“What is it, Samantha?” Even at this young age, the boy refused to call the woman “queen”. “One of our bases on the South Lands is under attack. The Light Side is starting to cause more trouble than we had anticipated…” “And you’re telling me this because…?” Nathaniel raised an eyebrow and put on a flat, uninterested tone. “You’re an Elite now, won’t you help? With your power we could wipe them out in an instant,” SD tried to hold his dark gaze, but his eyes seemed to burn her. “As I recall it was not my choice to be an Elite. As for my power, it is mine to use as I wish. And I do not wish to use it.” The Queen’s look hardened. She felt betrayed, after all she and Cho had gone through to bring the boy up. The only thing Nathaniel ever gave in return was scorn – and yet it was impossible for them not to love the boy. “As you… wish,” and with that, she gave a exaggerated bow that, coupled with the dry sarcasm in her voice, left Nathaniel with a sour taste in his mouth.
As much as I hate to admit this, that stung. And I am not particularly fond of this emotion. HOW DARE SHE- Nathaniel shook his head. Control yourself. Don’t let your anger get the best of you. People get hurt when you do – people you love. As he levitated back to the rooftop where he had previously been sitting, Nathaniel pondered whether he should explain to SD why he had declined to help them. What these people don’t quite grasp is the extent of my power. And the fact that it cannot always be controlled. It’s much too easy for me to lose control and it’s not a risk I am willing to take. But it’s not like I haven’t tried to make them understand before! I think I’ll drop the matter for now. As he decided on that, he turned his head upwards, towards the sky he had always loved, and stared straight into the sun. The silver irises of his eyes were not the least bit bothered by the brightness of the rays; in fact, they seemed to welcome the warm feeling they carried with them.
__________
“She looks a lot like you, especially now that she’s all grown up,” commented Nolana. The mother smiled, as any mother would when told that her child had taken after her. “Seriously! I mean, she still has her father’s nose but-” the elf bit her tongue and cringed. She had gotten carried away. “It’s alright. It’s been years since he… I mean, it’s not like he’s ever coming back… Just…” her voice tailed off. “Lets change the subject, shall we?” Nolana patted her old friend on the back, gently. “That would be a good idea.”

It was a quiet morning – something Nathaniel had gotten used to lately. No one had bothered asking for his help again, or even talking to him as a matter of fact. Which is why he was more than surprised to see Liam suddenly appear on the rooftop, next to him. Why would he teleport, when he could easily use the stairs? Okay so there were a lot of them, to go all the way up, but still…
“Nathaniel, get up. You are helping. Now,” Liam stressed the final word. “Excuse me?” Nathaniel glared at him. “Listen, I don’t have to argue with you kid. Get up,” and with that Liam grabbed Nathaniel’s arm and pushed him on his feet. The boy’s eyes sparked with anger. No one had ever dared treat him like that before. “What do you THINK you’re DOING?” he pushed Liam away from him and prepared to strike him down. “Nathaniel, as much as I would love to stay and chat, this is urgent.” Urgent? What in the world could make Liam act the way he was now? He was always the most calm, collected one. Except if… Nathaniel’s eyes widened as the truth hit him. “Where is Samantha?” he quickly asked, even though he had already figured out the answer. “There was an ambush. Samantha and Cho can’t hold them for long,” Liam’s fist was clenched. “I don’t know if this is a good idea…” “Listen you, I won’t stand here and wait while you debate over whether you should save my Queen or let her die. We’re leaving.” Normally Nathaniel would have objected, but there was something in Liam’s tone that made him comply.

Nathaniel and Liam teleported not to far from where the fight was taking place. It was a rocky area, full of hills, boulders and dead plants. The paths were so narrow and complex that even though they could hear the chaos erupting around them, it took them a whole five minutes to spot Queen SD – Nathaniel wasn’t helping either. She was united with Cho and surrounded by dozens of Angels. Liam pulled his swords out, let out an angered battle cry and charged. Nathaniel hesitated; he did not want to have to fight if he could help it. He hid behind a large rock and waited, to see how Liam would do.
Suddenly he felt someone grab his shoulder. Turning around, he found himself face-to-face with a bloodthirsty Angel, who grinned at him with a wicked look on his face. “Going somewhere kid?” The Angel laughed. Instinctively, Nathaniel tried to pull away, causing an immediate reaction from the Angel, who pushed the boy violently against the rock and brought his sword up to his throat. Then Nathaniel’s eyes narrowed and their silver glow became brighter. An invisible force thrust the Angel away from him and as soon as he was in midair, a look of utter terror crossed his eyes and he started screaming in pain. It wasn’t long before the Angel was torn up from inside, into a million pieces, which then flew to all directions, except Nathaniel’s. If they want blood, I’ll give them blood. And if one of them ever touches me again I will make them suffer so bad they’ll wish they’d never been created, and with those thoughts strong in his mind, the ten-year-old Nathaniel rushed into battle. Anyone who dared cross paths with him ended up either exploding, or imploding. Either way, the Angels suffered quite unpleasant deaths.
“Just who do you think you are, boy?” Spat a hooded man as he approached him, and Nathaniel felt something nudge his mind. A sorcerer! If you can call such a weakling that. And he’s trying to break into my mind, how sad. Nathaniel shut his eyes and pushed the sorcerer’s annoying mind away from his. With a telepathic thrust, he broke every mental barrier the man’s mind ever had, then he proceeded with scrambling his brain up so bad that the sorcerer simply dropped to the ground, having no idea of who he was, why he was or what he was. And still the Angels and sorcerers came, all looking too eager to battle. Enough! Nathaniel thought as he hovered above them all. I am sick and tired of your thirst for blood, I am sick and tired of your savage mortality. Extending his left arm above them, he closed his eyes once more. In a second, he touched the minds of everyone and with a flick of his fingers he crushed their brains. No one was left standing but three people, he could sense. He opened his eyes and saw only two of them: A white-haired woman and a raven-haired man. It didn’t take long for him to realise that the third presence he had sensed was inside the woman’s body, so with a simple move he tore them apart.
No! Screamed his mind. Samantha, Liam! But his body would not listen. For the last time, he extended his arm, getting ready to finish them off. That was when he was hit and pushed against the ground by a silver dragon. “Nathaniel! Control it!” The dragon yelled. As the boy’s body was too weak to push the creature away, he tried to break the barrier in its mind and fight it telepathically. Still something blocked him. This is no ordinary dragon. It is a Sprit. For a second he seemed to recall something, but it was immediately pushed away by his furry. It doesn’t matter, I can still take him. As their minds wrestled, their consciousnesses touched and their thoughts and memories were shared for a few very long seconds. That was when Nathaniel’s mind was filled with the memory of his mother and his defence was immediately broken as he realised what he was doing. “Choethel…” he whispered in shock, his eyes gone wide.
And at that very moment, Cho’s mind was filled with the exact same image as well. And his eyes widened twice as much as Nathaniel’s. Because the woman he had seen was none other than his beloved Tundra.
